Dorkness over 9000.

The Gamers, a 5-part comedic fantasy series firmly based in the nerdiest corners of the role-playing games fandom, is available up to 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $15.15 for the whole collection: Humans & Households, Hands of Fate, Dorkness Rising, Natural One, and the one that started it all, The Gamers (Director’s Cut), for the first four days.

One late night in a college dorm, four socially inept geeks immerse themselves in a fantasy world of their own creation. As their characters journey through forbidden kingdoms, ancient ruins, and the forsaken wilderness, the players attempt to solve a mysterious puzzle that could ultimately mean the difference between getting a life and death. Who is The Shadow? Where is The Princess hidden? Will any of them ever find a date? And how long do they have before their annoyed neighbors call the cops? So many questions, and that's only the first of the many adventures that lie ahead of our the bold party of heroes!

Get the whole series of The Gamers movies on GOG.com and save 60%, or get 40% discount on movies purchased separately. The special launch discount offer lasts until Tuesday, October 7, at 2:29PM GMT.

F4LL0UT: Okay, that seems pretty bad. In this case I really hope that someone from GOG staff saw your posts and that they will alter the description soon and try to get a genuine 720p version.

And nah, really not lashing out, just kinda frustrated with people crying wolf all the time and making GOG staff appear like assholes for making simple errors.
Knowing GOG it's likely they got this delivered by the ehm.. I'm not very movie business savvy so, publishers? as being 720p. Now I'm not hugely bothered by it, but I have to admit it is disappointing and it is misrepresenting/misleading it a bit.
Now I am often critical of GOG when they make real mistakes, partly because I am a bit tired of the cult of GOG.
But in this case it's probably a simple mistake and I hope they can rectify it before even bigger a-holes than me notice it :P
Nice suprise GOG! :) I'm a fan of the series, although I didn't watch them all. It would be fun to at last see the whole series.

And I tought I'm not going to buy any movies from your offer. Not that they're bad or anything, just I'm not much interested in documentaries about gaming. ;)
Thanks but no thanks. I'll stick to your offering of games.

Your movies haven't interest me the slightest unfortunately (enough with these "gamer culture" movies already, bring on the real deal please).

My most abject apologies in advance, but I simply could not resist after looking at the promo page...

Well, I think we all know that the changes of GOGs site design, as well as the featureset aren´t already done...
So, now that I have more than a handful of movies, I'd like to put them in the "right" order. Is it only me that's having issues with manually ordering movies (that is, unlike games, movies can't be dragged around)?
It would be nice if these had commentaries. I bet they would be really interesting. I think commentaries are the only reason I still buy physical media any more.
Ah what the hell, might as well. I have a huge unwatched Blu-ray and DVD collection might as well add some soon to be unwatched Digital downloads to the mix :)

Really need more time.

Is it the Extended Cut or Festival Cut? I bought the pack anyway, just want to know.

Thanks. I hadn't noticed. I went straight to watching the stuff I hadn't seen yet.
While the first and the second The Gamers are really funny movies, if you are part of the portrayed subculture, they are to expensive. Even with the promo it is € 2.89 for a 12 years old movie. For watching a new movie in the cinema, you have to pay, where I live, € 8 - 10. I consider this expensive and so I go only a few times a year to the cinema. But when I like to watch an old movie (like in one year old) in the cinema, I can do this for only € 2.50. This is for a full feature length movie and not an amateur short film with only a duration of 48 minutes.

So the full price of € 4.89 is noway near an acceptable price point. That are 10 cents per minute in the movie.

This price even sucks in comparison to other entertainment. I could go to a real theater with actors performing live for about € 6. In the GOG catalog you find games like Gothic 2 (at least in the past), which easily provide about 60 hours entertainment for € 8. That are only 0.23 Cent per minute in the game.

Don't you have friends to watch the movies with? My PnP group likes watching movies together, so the Gamer movies (as well as Dark Dungeons) are a good investment.

Sure I do. I usually go with one of my friends to the cinema watching a movie both like. At home I prefer to watch movies alone. Mostly I watch series and I prefer to do this in my own pace. But even you take both cinema tickets into account we would pay € 5 together and would get the big screen and a full length old movie.

I would also highly recommend to watch The Gamers with your RPG group. It is a really entertaining movie and good for later references while role play. But I still find it to expensive.
