Worth remembering that all new games with the name Harvest Moon are basically fakes. The real series is now named Story of Seasons.

There was a split between publisher and developer, the US publisher still owns the name Harvest Moon and is producing their own games under that name. The Japanese developer is still making their games under the same name in Japan but have had to change the name in the West.

The only reason i had a DS was because of Brain Age... Sudoku and something to keep me occupied, up until of course i was discharged from the military.

Then found a Sudoku game with tons of options and did well on it going through every puzzle (from easy to insanely hard), til the memory card derped...

I would guess the ones that disappointed you are in the latter series, the split happened longer ago than I realised.

Don't bother with 3D feature it is gimmicky... Takes long to adjust, easily unstable by a move of the head or focus, gets your eyes very tired really fast... Few games i've tried were it was "cool" for a few minutes though were Shovel Knight, Shantae the Pirate Curse.
Plus, i read the 2DS top screen rumored (?) to give some sort of anti AA filter enabled by default to help clear the damn bluriness of the 3DS top screen with 3D off, or perhaps this works on game basis, like MH4U having / using it...
