Sorry if I sound like a llama, but I've forgotten stuff I used to know. TY in advance for being kind.

Q 1:
How do I snip parts of multiple posts and respond to them in one post?

Q2:
My Rep is dismally low. Is that because I haven't posted regularly? Or because people don't like what I have posted?

Appreciate advice. :)

You get 1 rep for each day you post, and also more in other ways....so yes, if you don't post much then chances are you won't gain much rep.
For the first one, either get acquainted with the copy + paste function of your PC and the forum's code markup or use a browser script made by one of the fine folks that frequent the forum that make things like that less a pain in the neck to deal with.

As to the second - don't focus on "rep". The only time it matters is when you've hit the negatives, in which event, the forum will no longer allow you to include URLs in your posts until you crawl back to a positive. Otherwise, make the content of your posts a priority above all else. If people Iike them, great. If they don't, know that you can't live your life trying to please everybody.

Thanks. I was getting hung up on the numbers, and maybe the very human condition of wanting to be "liked".

Could you point me towards cheat sheet for this boards mark-up code?

I try to be decent and kind most of the time, as smart as I am able, and witty when I can, I do not want to be the turd in the box of raisins. But I also don't want to be the desperate fuck doing shit that says "please give me approval"

And all of this is coming from a place of being stir-crazy, suddenly unemployed, and worried sick for my cousin and niece (who both tested positive last week)

Most of the relevant stuff is to the left of the reply window if you're just opting for the non-script approach. Italics, bold, underline and URL tags. The quote tags can be explored by replying to specific posts and seeing how they work - they utilize post numbers in a thread if you want to reply to specific people, otherwise just throwing in a generic quote without a following post number will produce a block of quoted text for the purpose you may need it for.

I think it uses the old BBCode formatting. Basically you use [ b ] = bold, [ i ] = italics, [ u ] = underline (without the space) then end it with eg, [ / b ] as you would HTML < u > stuff to be underlined < / u> but use square brackets instead. There are buttons for this on the left (select the text first then click the button and it should auto-insert). When quoting paragraphs, you basically reply to a post so all the content gets included, and then enclose each paragraph you want quoted with [ quote_x ] at the start (where x is the post number you're quoting, ie, the number that's visible just to the right of "posted 5 minutes ago" when you hover over the reply / rate post header). Then end the paragraph with [ / quote ] (again minus the spaces I've added here). The tiny chain icon next to this is a link to the individual post in case you need to bookmark / quote it.

^ Like this which is a separate quote from post 1 whilst the first quote is from post 4. If you reply to this post, you should see this multi-quote formatting already inserted, so hopefully that will make more sense.

As for rep, you get +1 for each day you post, and for each like (up to a maximum cap of +5 per day). You also get +5 if someone flags their post as a question and your post is selected as the answer.

TY. They are both awesome girl studs being smart and strong. And yeah, I share your hopes. Also, my cousin's hubby has been a rockstar, suddenly taking on cooking, cleaning and house management for a family of four, which he says is about the same as managing a construction crew of 20. :)
