Can anyone explain where this 'ree copy of Obduction on the home page!' actually is?

I click on the banner on the home page, and it takes me to the game page. The game page just has a 'go to giveaway' button.... which merely takes me back to the home page.

Is this some bizarre joke?

I claimed it from the home page, there's a kind of small banner underneath the flash deals, that's where you claim it. It's not on the game's page itself, as far as I know

What browser are you using?

Indeed. Sounds like the page resources aren't loading correctly. If it turns out you are using a supported browser, then try turning off any ad-blockers you may have temporarily, claim the game, then turn them back on afterward. Also try the usual browser cache clear / forced refresh of the page stuff.

Firefox and Chromium. Does the same thing with either.

Maybe disable any adblocking extensions you have, see if that works?

Maybe try logging out first and then clicking the claim free game button on the main page and then login when it asks you to. Have you tried looking in your library just to check it's not already there?

You have to click on the right part of the banner, the button to get the game, while being logged.

Version, mate, version. They do have to be up to date..

Gog fixed the website for older browsers a couple of days ago. For now at least.

On the front page under the daily flash deals is a banner with a button on the right side; click the button and you should see the text on the banner change to "Success!"

In case nothing else works, you can also claim the game via the gog Galaxy client , i.e. using the built-in "web browser" of Galaxy wehere you can click the banner on the main paige.
