zeffyr: Not really, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone rock.

Breja: I refuse to call a MOBA and a card game with Blizzard's popular franchises slapped onto it "great games". It's like a has been rockstar making covers of shitty pop songs. They're supposed to be one of the best developers out there, second to none in their fan follwoing. And what do they make? Another MOBA and an online shooter. Whoop-dee-doo. Too bad they missed the motion control craze, there was a "great" Warcraft dance game to be made a couple years back.
Not 'a card game', but the best virtual card game there is on the market, no doubt.

And about HotS - I haven't played any other MOBAs, but HotS approach is quite different - quick rounds, objectives etc.
And I'm sure that Warcraft Azeroth Dance-off would have been a good game too, easy to get into, with nice art style, poossibly the best dance game on the market (the "no doubt" part made me cringe though).

I'm not saying they make bad games (although Diablo 3... yeah, that just sucked), but that with what they make today they really don't deserve the reputation they have. They just milk popular money-making online genres and their own franchises. They don't make anything great anymore, anything special or new. They make soulless, functional, pretty products.

Breja: You lost a "used to" there somewhere.

zeffyr: Not really, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone rock. Legacy of the Void looks solid as well. Reaper of Souls is praised.

I haven't played WoW so I won't talk about it.
HotS is one of the most hand-holding MOBAs I have ever played.
Hearthstone copied Etherlords gameplay nearly 1:1.
D3 RoS... power creep at its finest.
And WoW, fuck WoW. It's the reason why they didn't do proper sequels for over 10 years. The creative talent that was responsible for the good games left Blizzard ages ago. They can't make a good game now. They can throw as much money at it as they like, it will be polished and shiny, but it will still be only a mediocre game.

Overwatch... Considering it's going to be always online, Multiplayer-only... i don't see the point.

I'd love to see a campaign for each character, a story perhaps building up to explain previously to the trailer, sorta like Watchmen i guess in that regard. But since they don't really seem like they are going to do it, i don't know. Honestly a number of simple missions with voice acting and a few minute cut scenes every now and then, or perhaps diary entries of things that happened while they were on missions, etc...

Although one thing... Every time i hear Tracer's voice, i hear Vanille (FF-13) instead... Likely the same voice actor...
They're going to charge $60 for it. As a F2P I would have barely considered playing it. As a buy to play game there's no way in hell I'd consider it. They're already going to kill users on the skin market. Unless of course Heroes of the Storm is underperforming there. I wouldn't be surprised.
That is a bit of a strategic play to create buzz, but it also could backfire if the content creators' opinions are negative. Maybe there was a small pool of random players they chose and another pool of public players to garner some free publicity. Either way, call me cynical, but the bigger the stakes, the higher the chance of preferential treatment occurring.

Acriz: What I hate the most is the stupid hype that is going on.
They try to sell you sliced bread as the best thing ever. People who never even talked about sliced bread, tell me now, how awesome sliced bread will be, even though they could have had sliced bread since forever.
Too much fanboyism for my taste.

Breja: Blizzard is like Apple of gaming. They can sell the same thing again and again, and it's always "aw my GAAAAWD teh bestest thing evar!!1!!" from the fanboys, who have to have it RIGHT NAO, whether it's camping outside the store or getting furious over not getting to play the beta.
They were the Apple of gaming until they released Diablo III. Now they are nothing.

Sure, if we ignore the fact that it is the best selling PC game of all time.

Blizzard is also paying you too?

Best selling only because too many people preordered the game or bought it on the day it was released.

Yea, sure, of course. 4.7 million on day one. So let us ignore the 25+ million other copies sold post release day.

Many people say, and I'm thinking that too, that they'll use F2P with paid cosmetic changes, like they did with Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. So far that model works well for them.

Diablo III was a best selling game because people love Diablo and Diablo II. And they thought Diablo III was going to be just as good if not better. So Diablo III being a best selling game at one point does not have anything to do with Diablo III itself.
Blizzard has stopped making games for gamers a very long time ago.
The focus on profit has eliminated any other ambition in this company since WoW, so I'm not surprised, that only the press gets to try the beta.

It pains me to see their old characters from better times (Lost Vikings, BlackThorne, etc...) be abused in their DOTA-clone while they should rather make real games with those again instead although I wouldn't buy them anyway thanks to their obsession with DRM.

Yes I am sure that those few million sold copies of D1/D2 resulted in D3 selling over 30 million. Nothing to do with D3 at all.

Because that is how brains and logic work, yes.

I mean't, nothing to do with the Diablo III's gameplay because the game's gameplay is garbage.
