PS4 Dualshock plugged into my PC or laptop via USB, with 3.5mm headphones into jack in controller. This gave me audio from my entire PC/laptop; not just a game. I have never enabled or used Bluetooth on PC or laptop before today and enabling and using Bluetooth changed nothing whatsoever so heres the story...

As of yesterday evening, after rebooting my laptop and later my desktop PC, my [different]PS4 controller no longer shows as an audio device. Retail-returned my glacier white PS4 controller to BestBuy - this controller had been used all this time without any issue and now its been replaced by other Sony controllers.

I have not, and I will not install something called DS4 or any third party software on my devices. Please keep in mind that the way I describe above...had been working just fine for years, until yesterday after returning my controller and rebooting my laptop and PC. Now, my many PS4 controllers work as gamepads, but do not display as audio devices to choose or alter in Device Manager.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers every which way. I uninstalled and installed PS Remote Play again, on both PC and laptop - no love. I've reset the controller(s), done every combination of unplug and plug-in to every USB spot on my PC/laptop, and still no audio via gamepad though the controller works to control games just fine.

Im going to repeat myself: I did NOT use DS4. I used a micro USB cable to connect my PS4 controller to my system, and then a 3.5mm audio cable to my controller, which played all my computer's audio without any issue after selecting Wireless Controller in Select Playback Device - that speaker icon choice.

Did Windows do an update or something or was the gamepad I returned somewhow "perfected" for Windows gameplay? These other Sony-brand controllers I have just aren't connecting the audio at all. What gives?!

The new controller arrived. After plugging it in,, the plug n play functionality returned. No more issues.

I think, perhaps, that the model of controller matters.Maybe drivers on the this model controller or PC drivers interacting only with this model. Unknown....

Now, however, I can play any/all my games without any add-ons or whatever that DS4 helper. I am, however, sticking to USB and a corded in-controller mic.

Thats what I got. Thats what's working.

Also, Im the only one using my laptop and PC. Laptop is about six months old. PS Remote Play installed on both laptop and PC.
What is the motion support or touchpad like on the PC?
