Is there a way to limit your search of the GOG catalogue to DOS era games?

Games of this nature usually have the message "This game is powered by DOSBox." under the system requirements section.

I thought there was a way to search by the date the game was originally released, but I can't find the option.

There isn't. GOG store filters are very limited. But there's a user created list:

Edit: it's possible to manually add to URL parameters that previously worked as games-from-given-period filter: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/removed_search_page_filter_workarounds

You can also use the MaGog search engine, which allows to search by date, and if you use the "Gogmixopedia" filter there's an option "games using DOSBox, according to Grargar", but it's probably not up-to-date anymore, as it seems to be connected to GOGmixes which GOG removed.
