At first, SMAC was working fine. Now, when I go into the game, the mouse pointer disappears, making it much harder to play the game. Any thoughts?

I've had several issue with this game. One especially that drove me crazy was no sound in the cut scenes (sound was fine in game). But one thing I would recommend is going to the compatibility tab (right click on the icon, then click properties then click the compatibility tab) and checking the box to run it in WinXP-SP 2 or 3 and then hit Apply. That will often (but not always unfortunately) solve issues like this. Also should ensure it's being run as administrator.

ADDED: If that doesn't work two things...1) what OS are using and 2)what GPU are you using? These might lead someone in the right direction if that doesn't work.

Why don't you post in the dedicated Alpha Centauri forum? It'll get noticed quicker and by more SMAC players.

Has someone found a solution for this hang problem? Maybe created a working patch or a trunaround?
