Several months ago, GOG sent me an email, that was supposed to have a list of what I had been browsing lately, only there was no list. They also recommended a few games to me, all of which I already had at GOG.

Today they've done exactly the same thing with an email ... no list and four games (two of them demos), all of which I already have at GOG.

Is anyone else getting this kind of silly email from GOG?

Clearly their backend is not keeping a good tab on things.

I know I haven't been as regular a visitor lately, and maybe that's why they sent me the email. But it's not like I'm not getting their other emails (wishlist ones aside), and I visit at least a few times a week still. My buying has slowed down a bit, but that's due to current pricing really. My current wishlist has over a 1,000 entries on it, so it isn't like I'm not interested in anything.

P.S. And those four games, were not recent purchases or acquisitions.

No, the only email I deign to let GOG send is modmails and wishlist emails.
Why would anyone ever have a demo on GOG? Those things become permanently stuck to your GOG account like an unremovable & incurable parasite.

Yes, it is annoying, but why should I worry about it? If I'm interested in a demo, I play it and hide it afterwards, so I don't ever have to see it again. It's not like they do any harm and space is unlimited. So what's the problem (except for you loving to complain)?

I actually disabled getting the Wishlist emails, as I was getting too many of them, and I use a program to keep tabs on those that I am most interested in.

So I don't mind most of the other emails ... new releases, freebies and special newsletter discounts.

Gawd, who cares, you can hide them if you want. I have a few hundred demos or prologues etc in my account and they have never bothered me, especially as I now have over 2,000 entries in my library, and a demo is just one amongst many. When you have so many games in your GOG library, it is all about TAGS anyway.

I've never understood why some don't see the value of a demo. Years ago I used to collect demo discs, and still have oodles of them, many of them collections of demos, that I even paid a bit for ... much cheaper than downloading them at the time.

I like my demos. Certainly better than them disappearing from library on developer's whim, like they do on Steam.

Nope.

I just got one today. 6 recommendations, out of which I already own 3 and the rest I have no intention of ever buying. I suppose I can't fault them for half of those suggestions. There must be something in the tags or genre that overlaps with items in my collection.
Pondering on this a bit more, it occurs to me that maybe the games recommended to me that I already have at GOG, are leftovers not cleared properly from my wishlist when I bought them. I have on occasion had to manually remove a few, so along with games we own not always being indicated as such, I guess it is just due to a flawed imperfect system ... probably not helped by GOG changing some aspects now and then ... new Game ID, renamed, etc.
