Let me start this with a disclaimer: this thread is NOT meant to rant about GOG's curation system (even though I don't think it can completely be avoided - still I would appreciate it very much if such discussions could be taken into another thread). Curation is subjective and I am well aware about this fact. However as GOG themselves already said in an interview, it is also human and people make mistakes. People also might be willing to give second chances and see if they made a mistake. So this is not about ranting it is about convincing GOG that rejecting this game was neither in GOG's nor in our best interest because more people would like to have it here.

I am talking about Unbound: Worlds Apart which is a nice looking puzzle platformer with very interesting and creative mechanics. Basically you switch dimensions with a click on a button to overcome obstacles but in those other dimensions the normal rules of physics don't apply anymore. It's hard to explain and very easy to see for yourself. Just go to their itch.io page HERE scroll down a bit and click on the download button to get their DRM-free kickstarter demo.

Their kickstarter also is still active so if you would want to support them click HERE.
(Look at their FAQ and you will see that you can also get a DRM-free copy instead of a Steam key in case you should be worried about that)

GOG rejected the game and said "... we feel that the game would not be a good fit for GOG, as we think that it appears to be too niche and a bit too small in scale in terms of production value for our users"

As far as I know they judged the game on the demo alone so only a very small part of the game which makes the "too small in scale in terms of production value" argument imo a bit wonky - and I won't even start to talk about the "too niche" argument (GOG you really should stop telling devs this - it's getting ridiculous ;)

So if you should disagree with GOG after you have tested the demo carefully please sign the wishlist with already nearly 80 votes HERE.

I would like to add that the game has almost already been funded now 2 weeks ahead of the deadline which imo also is a sign that there is interest in this game in general. Imo the game would be a perfect fit to GOG and having played the demo myself I think it is cute, artsy and actual fun to play ... Keep in mind that puzzle platformers are not even my favorite genre.
On which game reminds me the protagonist?
Voted
Honestly, it's not even out of kickstarter and nothing to go on except a demo which might not even be a good representation of how the final game will turn out.

Has the developer released games here earlier ? if not i could understand the hesitation of adding it this early, not saying GOG is doing it right but i can see their point here.

If the release version is good then i hope they reconsider even if i don't expect it.

Something i can't wrap my head around is why using the terms "niche" and "low production values" as excuses for rejecting games, personally i like niche games and some are really good for what they try to do and the audience they are meant for (Hell GOG itself is niche) and FFS how many low production value games are released here every year ?

That's my point. How can GOG say the game is "too small in scale" if all they have is a very small fraction of it?

This never was their point though. Not once did they say "the game is not finished" or "you are new to this and we don't know how the final product will end up". I can only work with the information I have - assuming GOG did have other reasons to reject the game won't help me since in this case it could mean everything. But to answer your question. The developer released one game before which is a casual game and quite different from Unbound.

It would not be the first time they reconsidered so it is not impossible. Enough for me to try to convince them.

Strange, i don't know what to make of all this except waiting for the game to be out and see if GOG change their minds by then.
GOG also need to stop with the automated reject messages because exactly this line had been said before and doesn't sound like something a employee sat down and wrote down as reasons.

Just waiting will not help and GOG will not reconsider unless they are convinced that there is interest for the game. So voting for it using the link posted above would be a first good step if you should be interested in the game here.

He reminds me of Orko from He-Man.

I will do so even if i can't say i'm currently interested exactly and raising interesting before releases is nice i guess but i personally need to judge the final product before getting excited, it's same for everything.

Of course. Luckily for us we don't sign a contract to buy the product by signing for a game on the wishlist :). It is only meant to show that these are games we are potentially interested to buy.

I did not know this game.
I've been watching the gameplay and it seems like an interesting game.
It would be interesting to see this in GOG so voted.

Any proof if it was officially rejected? just want to be on the safe side... Not that I doubt ya considering GOGs new track record of playing personal bias towards certain games'' Japanese''

If this is true, It sure shows how prejudice the curators are towards certain games while barely even bothered playing them.

Also, wishlist ion GOG s garbage cause there are games that are rejected that have over 500 votes or one even near 5000.

If "i know it directly from the dev" is proof enough then yes.

I would not say that curators are biased and there are quite some games Japanese here as well - but as I said, we really should not make this to a discussion about GOG's curation and that also was never my intention.

I know that the GOG wishlist is not a guarantee that a game will be released here but I am also quite sure that many votes on it will give GOG at least the sign that it is wanted here. GOG assumes that the GOG customers are not interested in the game and I doubt this. With the number of votes and the participation in this thread I'll try to proof it.

I was hoping more for a copy paste of what they said as a form of proof. For instance, with Wizardry Xseed themselves told the public. Only one person saying it doesn't really mean proof right away.

You might not want to make it into a war About curation but the reason the game isn't released would be because of them so it's inevitable and it would lead to that point eventually.

I'd say good luck on your quest, and you get my vote for the game. But In the end, I think you're just beating a dead horse with GOG and its agenda.

Well the team is the guy who told me and the artist. It's as official as it can get. I can see if they have posted on Twitter or Facebook but a rejection is normally nothing to advertize for a game you want to get funded so it might be that I cannot provide you with that kind of proof.

I don't think so. As I said in my OP, I am well aware that curation will always be a subjective thing and I am not angry at GOG for rejecting the game. I just think that they are wrong and hope they might reconsider. No war at all.

You might be right, you might be wrong - time will tell ....

And thank you for your vote.:)
