This pc that Im in right now uses Windows 10 and Im feeling this last update messed up some things (Nothing new, actually).
But, I've also noticed that the RAM consumption is now 20% all the time, even if the system is idle.

Just for comparison, what the last update did to your system personally, if you use or have a pc with Win 10?

i didn't notice anything specific, but then I wasn't really monitoring the RAM, CPU etc. usage of the system before and after the update. Nor have I tested that each and every program still works, but generally the system seems to work and I don't notice any real difference.

(I am unsure though what is the "last update", I think I updated Windows 10 last week or the week before that, also if there was some feature update, I usually just update those too if they have become available.)

Since I have Win10Pro, I have the option to disable automatic updates altogether, and have done so (it needed some extra tinkering though). So I do the update manually once a month or so, when I remember.

It did... absolutely nothing. I had Windows 10 2004 already installed, so Windows 10 20H2 didn't install anything new: the few changes were already there, ready to be "activated" by Microshit.

Now the daily computing experience is absolutely the same.
It's worth pointing out that many programs will reserve memory if it's available. It doesn't necessarily mean the programs are actively using it, but unused memory is wasted memory. They will release the memory if it's needed by another piece of software. It's possible with the recent update that Windows 10 is reserving more unused memory for its own purposes. Unless you actually find software is running slower, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah.. I understand that. Unfortunately, some programs are running slower.
I have a theory (after some troubleshooting) that it's Windows security systems slowing down things.

Thank you all for the answers.

A VPN disappeared (the settings). Apart from that, all seems to be fine (crossing fingers).
