I don't see anything wrong with DLC as long as it fulfills two of my personal demands:

1)

it acts like an expansion pack of old and isn't something akin to unlocking something already present on the disc/in the game

2)

it fulfills an actual demand.

I like the way SOTS: The Pit DLCs were handled as they always added a slew of new content and most of them, save for The Pilgrim DLC, have been rolled into a Gold Edition.

Even The Pilgrim DLC adds a new class, new items, etc. that have to be playtested for balance and such so I don't see it as being an excessive form of DLC. On top of that, the users of Kerberos' own forums kind of demanded a Zu'ul class and that's exactly what was made :)
What if a developer puts out a DLC for one of their older games like with Postal 2? :D

Grargar: How Dare They?! They are destroying Social Welfare by releasing it Free!

PaterAlf: Thank you, that really made me laugh!

Btw, where did that pro-drm-thread go? Did GOG delete it, because it was trolling?
I don't recall us deleting a thread...

Neobr10: I guess you wouldn't buy games like Doom, DN3D, or Quake since they had a bunch of expansions and mission packs. Oh, don't forget about Neverwinter Nights, which had quite a few expansions. Rollercoaster Tycoon as well.

timppu: I didn't buy e.g. Neverwinter Nights and Heroes Chronicles until from GOG, deciding not to buy especially the latter, as I couldn't figure out back then how many chapters or additions there would be in the end (8, it seems). In retrospect, I'm happy I waited.

Then again if I've understood right the GOG version of NWN is not "complete" either, missing some online packs? Not sure (and that's why I dislike such dispersion, being in the dark whether there would be some relevant extra content I should get for it).

Of course if the missing packs or modules are free, that's fine then. Too bad if some of them can't be obtained anymore, in case they were any good.
AFAIK, we have all the expansions and modules for NWN 1. Not sure if we aren't missing a module but I believe they should all be there...

Grargar: According to damien's list, GOG is still missing the Pirates of the Sword Coast, Infinite Dungeons and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr modules.
Ahh right, those modules. I am not sure what was the deal with them as I remember those from back in the day when they were first released (think back when NWN was in box form and gracing store shelves). Perhaps those were on a time limited deal or something.

edit: we do, however, have all of the major expansions. That I know 100% :)

damien: actually GOG is missing some premium modules: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/completionists_list_of_missing_games_from_gog_series/post4

and there is a serious demand for them:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/most_requested_games_by_genre/post1
Now I see that those modules were premium modules and I think there were some issues with those, mostly legal ones. What the exact issues were, I don't know as of this time.

mqstout: GOG should do what it did for a couple titles for all titles with DLC: When DLC comes out, delist the main product, make a new listing that is main product +all DLC, and apply a (properly scaled) purchase discount for the new product for those who already have the "base". DLC shouldn't be listed/sold separately.
We can only do that at the publisher's/developer's request and we do that as soon as possible once we get the official info :)
