It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

This is new to me, I just tried to buy System Shock 2, clicked to pay through PayPal and instead of the usual I was sent to a page called "GOG Limited PayPal", the whole page is blank except for a line "Payment details:" and then another asking me to enter CPF / CPNJ.

I'm guessing this has something to do with me coming back to Brazil after being in Uruguay for a while, but I never came across this before even when buying on GOG from Brazil, so what's up? Why are GOG/PayPal suddenly asking me for ID? Let me go about my business!

Entering my card details directly I was able to check out normally, so I'm guessing the issue is with PayPal and not GOG. I take it I can expect this annoyance to pop up again when I try to pay through PayPal here or elsewhere though, right?

+1 for that reference ;-)

As for your issue, I don't know, although I suspect that you are correct in assuming the problem is on PayPal's end, not GOG's.
PayPal, problem? NOOOOOOOOOOO.

+1 from me too for that post.
Heh, thanks guys.

So another odd thing is I went to Groupees and bought their current bundle, paid through PayPal and didn't have any issue, went straight to the PayPal login as always.

I'll eventually try buying something from GamersGate and Steam to see if they also redirect me or if it's just GOG.
I'm having the same problem. At first, I thought it was related to the browser or something else on the pc but then after I've tried using another computer, I saw the same strange page, with a field to insert CPF or CNPJ.

I hope this gets fixed as soon as possible. It would be a shame to not be able to buy from Gog because of this.
It sounds like PayPal's doing. Customers of a number of online vendors have complained that PayPal is demanding identification from Brazilian customers.

(For those reading this thread who don't know what a CPF or CNPJ is, these are Brazilian tax identification numbers.)
I contacted GOG support a while back, JuriJ told me they'd notified PayPal about it and are waiting to see if they do something.

So far I've only come across this issue with GOG. Maybe I've been lucky, but not even Nuuvem asked me for a CNPJ / CPF during my last purchase.

Having the same issue, as I've described in another thread.

Man, is Paypal really doing this without further notifying us? That's shady!

I think it's time to find a Paypal alternative now...
It seems Brazil and/or Paypal have put this regulation into effect for Brazilian customers(dunno if it's the Brazilian gov'ts fault or Paypal's, though).

It seems like I need to move out from this third world shit hole then...
That's very weird because it's happening to me only when I try to buy from GOG. Two days ago I bought a game from Steam and things went just fine.

For what I can see, the problem is happening only to the Paypal payment on Gog. A few hours ago I bought a game from Steam and another from Desura, in both cases going straight to the paypal login page.

Just happened to me, I find this very strange and kinda scary...someone asking for personal information that it's ALREADY stored in my account.

It's not stored in your GOG account. They store the bare minimum, meaning that such verification checks might happen. They're actually for your own benefit, and GOG are following best security practices.
