Iain:
=(
Your config guide helped me configure my Xbox gamepad for Shadow Man and I was able to finish the game for the first time ever.

Dammit, that needs to get here! I never got to play it when it was new, the demo wouldn't even launch as my computer wasn't nearly powerful anough (also thanks to Apple switching CPU platform from Motorola's 68k to IBM's PowerPC).

I thought Abuse was freeware, and I mean LEGAL freeware.
I see no point in deleting your account. And if you happened to share some good advice, you would be removing some helpful information for someone to stumble across one of these days. After all the oldest posts are usually the first to show up in the GOG forum search.
But it's your decision. Good luck with all your future internet travels.
Just don't use the forums, don't delete your whole account with all your purchases.

Oh, right, it is, and open source, no less.

Maighstir: That's what happens when you try to colour up the place a bit, some people take offense while most others are happy the place isn't all the same shade of gray.

and I guess that when it gets to rough, your housekeeper can always comfort you. I heard he is a very kind soul.
I literally can't grasp why anyone would want to have his gog account removed... But then why one would write here not asking for help or giving help eludes me as well... ah well farewell then! :-)
Leaving a forum is something I can understand. Wanting yourself erased from it, I cannot. And sure you could redownload your purchased gog games from piratebay without feeling all that bothered about it, but why reject a service you already paid for and that costs you nothing at all? Just for a petty satisfaction of knowing the user count of GOG went down by 1? I don't get it.

Not my decision to make, of course, and I can only respect it. But it does bug me that the forum will have posts missing.

I too would advise against deleting your account. Just log out and stay away if that fits you. After all, no HD has the life expectancy of a human being (and you'll miss any possible future OS-updates).
As for the deletion of forum posts - probably depends on the reasoning, but worth a try.

In any way - all the best Iain.

There are quite a few posts I wouldn't miss at all....

Iain: Will GOG completely delete an account once all the games are downloaded, including all forum posts if requested?

Just not happy with this place anymore unfortunately :(
As online backup is still safer than HDDs, I'd recommend against deleting the account. Just forget about it. And if you ever need to re-download a game that you've bought, you can always log in for a brief period. Just my 2 cents.

^This. From how I hear people talking about you, Iain, it seems you had valuable information to share over the years.

Adblock the entire GOG forum, but keep the site whitelisted.

Problem solved.

But you're letting the assholes win.

They can delete an account, though your posts will remain. Take for example Judas' old posts before he was an admin. They're not blue. So posts are independent of current status.

And if you're not happy just...leave/stop participating? Never understood why you'd want to delete an account unless you were completely dissatisfied with the service (rather than community). At best, transfer it to another/anonymous identity and retain your ability to download and make purchases. That's more logical.
