So I have a few stories about drinking and gaming. Thought I'd share and then leave the mic on for anyone else to share similar stories. Not about getting hammered or anything, just good ol' fashioned fun involving a drink and a game.

I used to work in a pizza shop where pretty much every night at closing we would get some beer, have a few drinks and do the clean up. The one delivery driver and I both had decent rigs for the time, modems (yes zhhhshshhzhzhhhdhdhhshshshh old school modems to connect) and Duke Nukem 3D. So after a few beers, we would finish the work and then split up, with half the people and beers coming back to my place, and half going to his. SOme people went home or what not but usually I'd have 2 or 3 watching me slaughter him over and over, and he's have two or three there to console him. My favorite things to do were to use the holoduke items to lure him into his doom, or to fill a room with pipe bombs so when he ran in to pick them up...BOOM. The best part was that he did not drink at the time, so he had no excuse for the lopsided K/D ratios.

In college there was a group of guys that would drop by to watch me play games like Might and Magic the first one with Xeen...and WIzardry the Dark Savant. We would listen to Pantera really LOUD and they would bring me beer in exchange for just leting them hang out and watch. Good memories of fun times.

I like to teamkill on online games when I'm drunk, I laugh even more than usual, yeah I'm an asshole on online games.

I once was drunk and thought, it would be a good idea to play some Colin McRae (with Driving wheel).

Erm,...let's just say - it wasn't the best of my ideas.

But it made it very clear, why you shouldn't drink and drive ever - be it in a game, or in RL. ;o)

I think they should do more drunk game driving to teach youth about the dangers of drinking and driving.

Yeah,...that might be a good idea.
But then again, I think most youths probably would find it funny...not so much discouraging them from drinking and driving.

At university, there was this one night were a friend and me went out of the pub to drink while getting some air. However, when we wanted to come back the pub was about to close and didn't allow us to get back in. So we just headed to the disco, which was open, but there was basically nobody there yet as it was a bit too early. Not all that fun, but my appartment was a couple minutes away, so we just headed there and killed some time playing some DBZ fighting game. Budokai 2 or 3, I believe. We were so drunk we could hardly make a Kamehameha, and that was just -> and circle. So we both sucked, but we laughed a lot.

Then there were the Mario Kart Wii and beer combo nights. Those were pretty fun as well.

I never drink while alone though, and most of my gaming is on my own, so stories from my university shared appartment are all I have.

I never got to play multiplayer games over a modem, but me and some friends have been trying out the multiplayer function that GOG has set up with the Build games, and it works like a charm.
Co-op is quite fun as well, played through the first chapter of Blood one night.

Well I have to confess to a severe need for speed when I get drunk (got drunk, been awhile actually).

Whenever I would get drunk, I would always end up getting in a car, and driving at speeds approaching 200 MPH. (virtually speaking).

Nascar Racing 2002 was my go to game when drunk, and I actually won TWO complete races, drunk as a skunk. I won a Daytona 500 race and a Coca Cola 600 (Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC) race. Drunk, continuing to drink, as I raced.

Now mind you, that was out of all of the times I got drunk over the years, so it's a frighteningly low percentage, but still pretty darn impressive to win a race drunk. Hell, if you've played the game, you'd realize it's actually pretty darn impressive to win one sober. Daytona was at 100% AI opponent strength, Charlotte was at 95% AI opponent strength.

Hey, beats the hell out of actually driving while drinking, something I URGE ALL NEVER TO DO. If you want to drive fast while drunk, that's what computers and steering wheel/gas/brake/clutch pedals are for. Have at it. If you even think about getting into a real car, take that bottle you're drinking from and smack yourself upside the head with it. Hard.

But it <span class="bold">is</span> funny!!

I seldom drink, but the other day I got buzzed on blackberry wine and felt a craving for something fast-paced, like an energetic FPS or a platformer. My aim suffered due to alcohol, but it sure was fun!
