I was wondering, is there a list of GOG games that - according to their store page - don't officially support Win8? I couldn't find any, and browsing the catalogue apparantly only allows you to list the ones that do.
But if you are spoilt and used to all GOG games working on your rig - and the great majority of games here actually are Win8 compatible - it's easy to overlook which ones aren't. I was already close to buying some of them without realizing that, and today during the Insomnia sale I bought one on impulse without remembering to check the system requirements. It's not a big deal since it was cheap and maybe I'll get it to run nevertheless, because obviously just because GOG doesn't list Win8 doesn't automatically mean noone will be able to run it on that system, just that GOG can't guarantee it will work and won't refund us if it doesn't, as I understand it.* But because of the latter, I thought a list of those games might be useful for those of us who for some reason or other switched to Win8, and I temptatively created a GOGMix for it:
GOG games that don't officially support Win8
So far it only list nine titles that I know of, so I'd be very grateful for any pointers as to which other games would belong on this mix. Or if you have any experience with running these games on Win8, I could add that in the comments (e.g. reports that despite the lack of official support, they are working just fine for some users, or advice on how to fix them if they're not).
Please note, this thread is not meant for discussing your personal opinion about Win8 - there's a time and place for that, but it's not here and now, so please stick to the helpful facts! :)
(* And in some cases like Tex Murphy 1+2 I suspect the GOG staff just forgot to update the pages? Don't they use DOSBox? So why would they not run on Win8? But maybe this list could help finding potential oversights, too.)
