Just wanted to let you fellas know. I'm excited! :)
Excellent. I'll download it shortly.
Nice. Linux Mint is my favorite.

From my brief time testing it, this seems like a solid release. Most of the changes are for the better I think. I haven't installed it yet but the live DVD seemed to perform well.

There is one minor annoyance I have with Cinnamon. I wish they'd hide incompatible extensions and themes in their respective downloaders. Several I tried didn't work properly or at all and I recall having the same issue with the last release as well.
Is there any reason to wait until they put up the final downloads? The only ones I'm seeing are RC discs, but those should be pretty close to the final release.
Linux Mint is great. I used it for quite a while, but now I use Crunchbang Linux (lighter, faster, and more customizable. It's not as easy to set up, but I like to tinker anyway so. . .)

The applications and all of that should be the same as the final build in a week or two. The only reason not to use the rc builds is the bugfixing that goes into the final build. It's possible a few mint tools might be updated but you can just use the updater to get them.

I just realized that I misread the title. I'll just install the RC, assuming I have time to install before the final release.
Nice, though I still like the Ubuntu repositories more, so I usually just install Cinnamon on top of Ubuntu :)

Umm. Mint uses the Ubuntu repositories...

Yes and no, somehow when I was using Mint I always had upgrade problems. By using vanilla ubuntu and Cinnamon I didn't have those.

I never was a fan of direct upgrades and instead backed up and reinstalled. Of course Ubuntu might have improved a lot since the last time I tried a direct upgrade but I never had luck with it the times I tried. I wouldn't object to a Cinnamon variant of Ubuntu though. :)

Yepp, so far Cinnamon (despite some stability issues) is the best for me.
This seems to break LAMP, I'll have to look into that later, but following the same instructions that worked on 16 results in a non-working install. Glad I opted to install to a VM.
The final release has been made! If you were waiting for it, get it now!
