Mirror's Edge has finally come to the PC. From what I understand, it's the better version, with that fancy-pants PhysX crap and better controls. I couldn't hold off on getting it before, got it on PS3, and it's a cool game, though the end levels suck.
Anyone else played it?
So it's worth getting it? I can't wait to get it , I saw it at the store today but I had just spent $30 in comics and $15 on Frisky Dingo S2 so I figured I would wait until I see some sale or something somewhere, but I cannot wait to get that. Easily my most anticipated game since Timesplitters: Future Perfect.
aww the xbox version only had REGULAR pants!
It'd be interesting to see if they've ironed out a few of the annoying leaps of faith you had to make, especially the ones where the stupid cow just wouldn't grab the bloody ledges. For all the advantages of the mouse, I'm not sure I'd want to give up the analogue movement
Overall I think it's a fairly good game, I do think it lacks a lot of the freedom they were saying it'd have, the different ways to complete a level is not so much 5 paths through major sections and more run up a staircase vs wall jump up faster. Many fights are also practically impossible to avoid and with a kinda crap fighting mechanic it's not a good chice to highlight it.
All that said, I enjoyed the game & have done everything in it bar the time trials because those never interested me.

Great another X-to-PC port......pardon me if I snooze through this *grand* event.....
I haven't finished it yet, but I'd say that chapters 1-5 are enjoyable. The main problem is that it's doesn't do a very good job at slowly increasing the difficulty. There are large parts in later levels, where you're just jumping through without a care in the world, and parts in earlier levels where you will die again and again. Basically, in order to really enjoy it, you have to forget that this is supposed to be one big game and look at each chapter individually. Graphics-wise you can expect the PC version to be quite a bit better. The UT3 engine basically sucks on consoles and the only thing that really saved ME was that they decided to go with a stylish look with clear lines.

It's definately worth a buy. Just be wary that the end part kind of sucks.
1. phys x is only available if you bought that billion dollar physx aegia card or if you bought a newer nvidia card recently.
2. it's a first person platformer..
3. it's EA fark'em

1. PhysX always had a software-only driver available. And a pretty good one at that.
2. Which would be bad, because ...?
3. EA is definitely not my favourite company, but any game deserves a chance.

I gave it a chance on the 360, i downloaded the demo.
this review sums it up.
No, it doesn't. And calling it a review is a big stretch. It's bashing. I already said it in another thread, I despise this form of "journalism". Complaining about looking at walls? You're climbing buildings, for god's sake, what do you expect to look at? And the overbrights may not be everybody's cup of tea, but they never get in the way, contrary to what this guy suggests. The characters are not spectacular, and neither is the story, but it's not getting in the way either. The two colors per area design might also not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean that it's a problem (and I love it). He just takes everything that he thinks could be done better, without thinking how a change would affect other parts of the game and marks it as a major flaw. Sorry. That's not good enough.
it sums up how I feel about the game. :)
So what lovely DRM payload do they have on the PC version? I read before release that they were planning on SecuROM with limited activations. Is that what they've done? If so, it's a pass for me.
*edit* Never mind. I found out it's SecuROM 7.x with on-line activation and limited activations. Shame, as I was intrigued by the game. Oh well.

So EA, apparently, learned nothing from the Spore debacle, I take it? Figures.

even better because this is completely original ip. whereas spore had the whole "the sims" stigma coming with it.

So who wants to start a betting pool regarding how quickly the DRM within the game will cracked/bypassed?? I say 2 days...any takers?
