Featuring music by Jeremy Soule.

Consortium: The Master Edition, a high-tech Sci-Fi adventure combining RPG and first-person shooter gameplay, is available 40% off on GOG.com. That's only $11.99 for the next 48 hours!

Game One of the iDGi-1 Trilogy. Taking place entirely aboard a massive futuristic aircraft, CONSORTIUM is a first person science-fiction role-playing experience unlike any other. The story begins in our world - the "real world" - where we here at Interdimensional Games have developed a satellite (iDGi-1) capable of opening a digital rift through time and space… Anyone can log on and travel through this rift and awaken within an alternate dimension from our own - the "game world" - in the year 2042.

In Consortium: The Master Edition you'll act as detective investigating an on-board murder, while simultaneously playing peacemaker to a large band of mercenaries who seem to want YOU dead. Or play diplomacy with a smoking barrel, and let the tragedies continue to mount. The story unfolds based largely on your actions. You may use diplomacy and talk your way through the entire game - never shooting anyone! OR, decide to use deadly or non-lethal force. The game features an all original orchestral score by award winning composer Jeremy Soule (available as a bonus MP3 download)!

Step through the digital rift and prepare for one of the most original gaming adventures you've ever had, with Consortium: The Master Edition for only $11.99 on GOG.com. The special 40% release discount offer lasts until Thursday, May 1, at 9:59AM GMT.
Looks interesting, nice release!

grimgroove: Sounds a bit Deus Ex-ish! I'm sold!

P1na: It does, doesn't it? which raises my expectations way too much. Anybody who played it cares to compare the two?
Imho, it doesn't really have too much in common with Deus Ex, except perhaps for a few superficial similarities. The gameplay and atmosphere of Consortium feel very different from Deus Ex. In fact, I don't really know any game I would compare Consortium to. Even so, if you enjoyed Deus Ex and are open-minded, you might just enjoy Consortium. I know I did :)

Just be clear what to expect. Although it's a first person game, it's not really a shooter. It does have guns, but in the whole game there are only like 2 (avoidable) situations where you actually have to fight, plus 1 or 2 visits to a combat simulation holo deck. The rest of the game you pretty much spend walking around on a flying battle plane, which is rather large for a plane, but still does not make for a very large game world. You talk a lot to people and play detective. It has an interesting dialog system in that dialog does not restrict your controls, so you can literally walk away from a conversation.
Consortium is also not a very long game, which suits the small game world. If you do enjoy it, you will probably play it more than once as the story does branch a little and you need several playthroughs to see all the content.

In my opinion, the most interesting thing about Consortium is its rather strange setting and the way the story is told. It breaks the fourth wall in a way that I just find wonderful. Bear in mind, though, that it's supposed to be a trilogy, so the story is not exactly finished with the end of Consortium.

In summary, it's certainly not a game for everyone. But it is a very unique experience, so if the things I wrote (or the art style) didn't put you off, then you might just enjoy it as much as I did.
Is there no Windows XP support at all? :/

gandalf.nho: I backed this, but backers only received Steam keys...
Strange. Werent they supposed to be offering DRM free as well?. Lucky i never backed it. Im curious what the reviews were like after release ...
It's been out for months on Steam and seems to be fairly well received.
Definitely interested, but I'll try and see if there are some good Youtube videos first.

Yes, but for backers they're using Humble Store for this
Another title I've never heard of, which is a good thing. Sounds in some ways like a scifi version of Murder on the Zinderneuf. I suspect I will pick this up eventually if the reviews indicate it lives up to the premise.

JudasIscariot: I put that there so we wouldn't have folks wondering if they would actually need to be connected to the internet for a single player game :)

Grargar: It's still funny, though. And what's with all these italics?
If you don't use them you lose them. Next it is bold.
Another game i've never heard of. Looks nice but if it doesn't support Windows XP i'm not interested.
ahhh hiisssss
thanks gog!

cw8: Sadly I didn't back this on KS.
Is the game fun?
I backed this during the Kickstarter, got keys for Steam and Humble, haven't played it yet though (it's on my list).

I hope we can get GOG keys too.
Looks interesting. Will think about it.

Is that a spoiler in the trailer (at 2:50)? Hope not.
This game looks really interesting, I do have a question though, for those that have played it. It seems the dialogue choices are assigned to the function keys, can they be remapped?

Yes, they can. The keyboard controls can be remapped in the options, and the dialogue choices are included in that menu.

Thanks, that was quite informative for me as I didn't follow the Kickstarter or the development.
