, a dark and disturbing adventure from the makers of [url=http://www.gog.com/game/the_cat_lady]The Cat Lady, with a storyline shifting from nightmares to reality and back in an eyeblink, is available on GOG.com for only $4.99.

[url=http://www.gog.com/game/downfall]Downfall begins in the Quiet Haven Hotel, that was supposed to be a one night shelter for Joe and Ivy Davis. But things soon start to go wrong. Ivy's panic attacks get worse and soon she disappears. In the morning the hotel has changed. Nothing is what it seems anymore. Joe is left alone, trying to understand what is happening, trapped between reality and the nightmare. Seems like the curtain between the mundane world and the twisted realm of horror ruptured, and nothing stands in Joe's defense as the swirling tentacles of darkness reach in to get him. Is there any hope to escape? From writer R. Michalski, creator of The Cat Lady--this is Harvester Games first and well loved adventure game, originally released in 2009. Original music, thousands of lines of dialog and point & click interface provide the perfect 2D adventure - dare you drop in to Quiet Haven Hotel? With strong language, scenes of blood and violence, this game is not suitable for players under the age of 18. MP3 soundtrack included!

Dare to face the unstetteling reality presented with simple means, but great power in Downfall, for only $4.99 on GOG.com.

Novotnus: Both today's games are 2009, so somewhere between old and new.

Fever_Discordia: Downfall and Dark Fall on the same day?
Its almost like someone got confused and double scheduled without even realising it!
Still, no complaints!
It goes further than that: both games feature metaphysical horror stories set in abandoned hotels, and both are currently priced at $4.99. It was by coincidence, but it was one of those cases that look so suspicious, that they actually make people say "there is no such thing as coincidence" ;-)

I hope we're not stretching it when we put The Cat lady and Downfall as a series. I played The Cat Lady first (Downfall will be played as well :D) and after the events in that game, I figured it would be natural to have both games as a series of sorts :) Let me know if that's cool with you guys :)

Novotnus: Rem said his third game will have something to do with Joe Davis too. If you look closely, some things in Downfall timeline doesn't fit some things in The Cat Lady timeline (personaly I hope he'll address to The Carpenter \ Florist from The Cat Lady too).
So, I think they certainly can work as a series :)
I am still awaiting the Novotnus review on this one. I was expecting you to have one already after the release of the game :P

:)
(I wrote it back when the game was only at GamersGate, with a gamebreaking bug in one of the endings - GOG version - 1.4 - does not have the bug)
I meant on the game card :P

Crap, I still haven't reviewed Deadly Premonition yet.
You have failed me as a giant zombie cat. :P

1322: Nah he hasn't failed you. Zombies, cat or otherwise, by nature, are slow. :D
And they fall apart at the seams :D

1322: So he's actually a frankencat? :P
Frankenzombieghoulkatze. German: when you need to make a word out of other words :D

Gonchi: Shouldn't that be Frankenzombieghoulkatze's monster? I mean, if we want to get technical...
It's my made up term and I say naaaahhhhh :)

Novotnus: Deadly Premonition has giant zombie dogs, not cats :)
You would know that if you finished it :)

BTW, I thought about changing my 'Giant Zombie Cat' to 'Stinky Agent' to celebrate Deadly Premonition GOG release... but I like my avatar and signature too much :)
I haven't finished it yet because I keep getting all these GOGs to play...like Downfall today :D

Novotnus: In that case all I can say is... enjoy your stay in Quiet Haven.
I just typed an advice... but then I deleted it. If you get stuck, you know... :)

m0ds: We had no intention of bringing Downfall to GOG but you folks did so there it is :)
avatar
Novotnus: I remember seeing it on the wishlist long before The Cat Lady came out :) Still, sorry for nagging both GOG and Mark about the game!
I'd call it bringing to light another game by the same author of another game :)

Novotnus: Well, I like the way you see it :)
Good :)

Also, I am totally digging the raw art style used in the game. I am busy collecting the oddest things but I am loving the visuals. Not sure why, maybe the general aesthetic of the game brings back that feeling of the 90s :)

Novotnus: Played Receptionist's little game? There are some really insane visuals near the end.
Also, PM'd you something :)
I am too busy going through the "collect everything not nailed down" phase of most adventure games :D

Gonchi: So can we expect the remake to show up here as well if it ever materializes?
That's up to Screen 7/ Harvester Games but I personally wouldn't turn the remake away :)
