A true role-playing platformer experience that will unleash your inner munchkin.

Unepic, an awesome RPG/platformer full of loot, monsters, dungeons, and lots of nerd culture-based humor showing just how fun tabletop role-playing might get, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first week.

Daniel was one of those guys, who will argue with everyone for a chance to re-roll their character's stats. He would secretly add "+1"s to his equipment sheet when nobody was looking. Sometimes, he would "accidentally" knock down a cup of Slurpee on the table just to rearrange the characters setting on the map. And, boy, was he good at it! Maybe he had superior stealth stats and no one ever noticed his meddling, or maybe everyone thought that arguing with "that guy" was pointless. The important thing was: Daniel rocked tabletop role-playing. At least in his own opinion. But then, one dark night, as he left the table only for a moment, he was transported into a dark and ominous castle taken straight from a Game Master's most sadistic dream. Daniel would have to muster all of his skills and tricks to handle this ordeal. But, after all, he WAS the ultimate munchkin!

Unepic is a exploration and loot-based fantasy platformer that in its core is the ultimate tribute to pen-and-paper role-playing and nerdom. The number of times the game winks at fantasy gaming fans, TV show followers, bookworms, and gamers is simply uncountable. You will explore a huge set of dangerous stages with varied environments, vast selection of monsters, and even more incredible equipment to find and utilize against your foes. The GOG.com version even comes with some exclusive items, unavailable anywhere else!

If the way of the munchkin is your preferred approach to tabletop RPGs, if you appreciate nerd-culture references, if you love loot above everything else, it's time for you to start exploring the realm of Unepic, for only $4.99 on GOG.com! The launch offer lasts until Tuesday, May 28, at 9:59AM GMT.

Psyringe: I'm not sure if these questions have been answered before (this thread is moving really fast), so sorry if it's a repeat question. There were two things that bothered me with Unepic, have those been fixed? I'm talking about:

1. The game used to phone home and require online authentication. Afterwards there was a bundle version that was playable without online authentication, but still required it to get all the features. Has this been removed in the GOG version, and can this game now be experienced completely without the need of online authentication? Is it really DRM-free now?

2. The game was barely playable on large resolutions. Instead of using the whole screen, it put black bars on all four sides, and the objects on the screen ended up too tiny. Does the game use the entire screen now?
1. The GOG.com version doesn't require any sort of authentication nor does it require you to be online to play it. There were some challenges but in our version those are removed. I know this for a fact because in the very first room of the mines once you go past the falling borders and the rooms with the floating eyes, there was a spot where you could activate an online challenge. This is no longer there. Also, my firewall never popped up and informed me that Unepic was attempting to access the internet and it usually does for most games. The code you get in your My Account page can be used to unlock a version of Unepic with the online challenges and other features that require you to be online, if you so choose.

2. I played it on my home computer and the Full Screen option was just that: full screen with no black bars and I run my desktop at 1920X1200.

Hope that helps :D.

RevGalen: I've just played this for a while and it's like an RPG/Platformer hybrid. Lots of dialog so far but that's okay. It helps create the story. The only thing I don't like about it is the save system. You can't save anywhere but it has an autosave sort of like a checkpoint. Other than that it's pretty fun.
The save system is a staple of most, if not all, metroidvanias. At least in this one you get a nice teleport to the save point because in other games in this style you have to haul butt to the save point :D.

NickRivers: Same Question. On Steam -- as well as on the official website -- the game is at version 1.43.10. On GOG its still on 1.43.3. Is there hope?

jpax: yeah same question... 1.45 brought proper controller support and I really need this patch....
