Hillsy_: This game doesn't work on Windows XP as mentioned on the game card, correct?
That is correct, sorry :(

JudasIscariot: That is correct, sorry :(

HypersomniacLive: If I may ask - why doesn't it?
It did not want to launch when we tested it. Perhaps this will get addressed in a later update, but, as it stands right now, we can't claim it works on XP :(

Looks nice!

BillyMaysFan59: hmmm... if it doesn't work on XP, I'm assuming this is a modern Windows port, rather than something using DOSBox. Am I correct?
edit: you saw the remade part :)

tburger: You must be kidding me...But in Steam's min sys req XP is mentioned...
Oh, hell - I'll try it anyway
I don't know what goes on there, I am just reporting what we experienced in our tests :)
XP support is something that the devs have to resolve, it is beyond our capabilities.

And no, it is not related to DirectX.

Maverick1988: So it's about a security issue? Like, let's say, backdoors, trojans, virus, and all that?

Well, let me tell you. I never used antivirus, antispywares and anything like that. I mean, I used them in the past, obviously... but for YEARS (many of them) my PC remained clean and pure without those. (how I can know that? Well, because I have this PC since 10 years ago and I know/feel when something goes good or wrong) Maybe the firewall helped, maybe the built-in firewall in the router did something too, maybe having updated the SO did his part too, but... it's all about common sense. Generally you can't get infected unless you go to some strange webpages, open up remote files you don't know for sure and all that. Even then, many of our internet explorers like Chrome, Firefox, etc have a decent security to not get infected that easy.

All in all, only a stupid would get infected and have that many security breaches.

Unless I got you wrong and I'm talking about something else xD

For real. Never got any problems related to security and I'm 95% sure if I keep using XP never will get.

And no, maybe I sound a diehard 'fan' of XP, but I'm still not getting why so much hate for the SO.

Logically speaking, new games will require new SO, and if not, new hardware. So those arguments are valid.

But 'Security Threads'? Issues? What. Enlight me, please.
Once an operating system stops getting updated, new vulnerabilities within the old system can be found and they will never be patched out.

Maverick1988: Of course. Knew and realized that already xD
(let's be honest, if I need to change my SO, I do it without any kind of problems. On the other hand, unless it is necessary and/or obligatory to do, I'll keep what I have. And I hope is that ok with everyone)

(let me add something else: 2 months later of the end of support and I'm still with XP. 0 issues yet)

But the thing is: Is that bad the game has support for XP? For the sake of people who still have that SO or because they plain demand it? Aren't we free enough to ask something gently and peacefully? An then, hopefully enough, get what we asked back.

Because you see... people goes here and there saying we should'a change, problems here and there, excuses or simply ego. Take a look how a launch started in grettings and ended in a debate of how 'the rest of the world' should behave with their SOs.

Such WOW. xD

Anyway, Iscariot, can I ask you a golden question?

Why GOG devs prefered the remake, wich is obviously a port to PC of a tablet/mobile market game before the real PC classic game? Wich is, in my opinion (and I guess a lot more people) even more complete and faithful.

Don't get me wrong here, I appreciate you guys launched this. But even saying that, I have that question rounding my head unreplied.
We can only distribute what we are allowed to distribute. We realize that whenever a remake of a classic game is launched that its most ardent fans will want the original as well but it depends on whether we get permission to do so and, in Z's case, we don't have the legal permission to do so. Sorry :(

JudasIscariot: *snip*
avatar
Maverick1988: But did you guys at least tried? Like, ask or anything? D:

Can't believe a powerhouse like GOG.com can't get that rights/permissions (or be denied) but instead, someone else unknown (because IDK you, but I've never heard about Kavcom or even TickTock Games :\ ) get those rights and do whatever they want just before you guys finally come and get only a part of that cake. (aka simple deal of distribution) ????? How crazy is this world were we live in?

You, who have YEARS of experience, amazing teams, pretty good contacts, epic community, an enjoyable catalog and plenty of deals everywhere.

Well, pardon me and my crazyness. I don't want to bother you anymore. Have a good night xD
Yes, we did ask otherwise how else would I be able to tell you that we don't have the legal permission? :)

Also, see tfishell's post about this very issue:

Matruchus: Question to the blue guys: Any timetable on when the above mentioned patch will be available here since it was already released on Steam on 9th.
As soon as we get it, test it, upload it , and ping everyone that there's an update? :)
