This game is an absolute classic. Just wondering why isn't it on here? You guys have Alpha Centauri so there must be some sort of good relationship with Firaxis. This game would be an instant buy for me.

Civil War Generals 2 is another one that I'd like to see get added. Again, you have a ton of other Sierra games on the list, why not this one?

I've been in a bit of a Civil War mood lately, I've been scouring the net for Windows 7 versions of these classic games this afternoon. I noticed that a website called "www.old-games.com" has versions of both of these games on it, but the website looks a little sketchy and I don't want to fork over my credit card for an unofficial pirated version that may or may not work with my system. I love GOG because it's professional and everything installs and works without having to screw around with DLLs and such.

Anyone have experience with getting these games and are there any plans to put them up for sale on GOG?

Nice choices! I'm a big fan of both Gettysburg and Civil War Generals

Gettysburg is great for the way it incorporates terrain, morale and the impact of said generals (good for their battle prowess AND scouting the lines!) and I was a HUGE fan of the way Civil War Generals could be set to "random" - you want a Longstreet, Reynolds or Jackson? You better find him yourself based on performance in battle!

Civil war generals 2!! What a great game! I remember aiming to get as much supply as I could during the battle, only to buy better rifles for the men.
As far as I remember, this game played without troubles on Windows XP. Only thing you needed was a WING installation. If you still have the cd give it a try.

If you find an adaptation of the game for Win7 let us know, because as far as I know nobody has ever done this.
I suppose putting money and effort in an old game is not what companies want.
Only the people here, on GOG, seem to have the interest to make old games run on new systems.

If you want to see this game on GOG you can vote here: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/civil_war_generals_2 . The people of GOG do take into consideration what the community wants and try to get the most wanted games.

The site you mentioned offers to download the game for free. (it's just below the "please support and unlimited download ") But I will double check the file because it looks fishy......
As far as I know this game has not been released as a freeware of opensource, so it's propably abandoned.

Also check these:

I would strongly advise you not to hand over any credit card details to that site. The site has no contact details other than an email address, and as far as I'm aware many of the games on there are not legitimately available for sale anywhere. I may be wrong (and will obviously change this post if I'm shown to be incorrect in my assumptions) but it has all the signs of being 'dodgy'.

A lack of demand might explain why Gettysburg isn't here (published by EA) and Activision (who own most of the Sierra catalog) haven't released a single game here for about 20 months.

Stay away from that site. It's one thing offering pirated games; it's another trying to charge for them.
Almost an hour and the 96 MB download hasn't finished..... I'm not gonna run the exe no matter what, it's more than fishy, I just want to see if the AV program finds anything on it.
Stay away from that site. Asking for pay just to download faster is lame and misleading.
It's an old abandonware site that went all scammy. Shame on them.

Way ahead of you... but at only 107 "wishes" it's not looking too promising. Gettysburg has yet to crack 1000. What's a war gamer to do?

I tried to use my one "free" download on it but it was stuck at 3.3kbps and then it timed out halfway through. The installer did open and it appeared to be up to date as it made mention of Wing32 errors. They aren't getting my money though. Too sketchy.

You're playing with fire. My scans didn't find anything on the file, but no way am I going to run it.
I got malware from more serious sites, not this "pay us to allow you to download faster"
