Elmofongo: I downloaded a Demo of 2 on Steam and I played on a small window screen and when alt-tab to full screen it the colors are all whack? Is the game like that or only the Demo and the full game is the fixed version? Samething with the other Quake games?

StingingVelvet: I play Quake and Quake 2 in source port conversions, so I can't say how the vanilla versions play.
They haven't aged well, so Darkplaces (with various texture and model replacecments) and Berzerker Quake 2 are musts.

That is beautiful on multiple levels... 'course the word joke would be completely lost where i live, but who cares? ;-)

chean: The original, native Mac versions on the other hand... even if you can find them somewhere, you'd need to set up an emulator like Sheepshaver to make them run at all on modern Macs, something which is much more complicated than emulating DOS (e.g. the emulator needs a ROM file extracted from a real '90s Mac to run; using a ROM that you didn't extract yourself is considered illegal AFAICR).
I tried Sheepshaver and Basilisk II, neither works for X-Wing or TIE Fighter on the Mac.

The *only* way to run either of those games is on a genuine Macintosh, running System 7 or Mac OS 8.

So "beautiful" in Italian must mean "stupid". :P

Nope, that we translate with "american"... jk

A tie, in itself, is a pretty stupid piece of clothing regardless... at least that one is nerdy-fun! I wish i could have the balls to sport that at work :-)

chean: In my experience it runs 90-95% of 68k/PPC games flawlessly; the exceptions are usually... unusually programmed in some way, or from the last generations of OS 9 games (Alpha Centauri is one I remember wouldn't run at all).
Good to know, thanks. IIRC, I was looking at an OS 9 game at the time.
