Soundless: Can you guys suggest any good modules that are mainly just Hack n' Slash? I'm not much of a roleplayer and love this game for the complex character building rather than the stories.

...

EDIT: I already tried to search for such in nwvault but either the search feature is not that good or I'm an idiot.
The search function is not so easy... you need to search, choose the advanced search for modules and then choose HnS.

Good vs Evil III is a fantastic HnS SP/MP game with RTS aspects. (This is a link to my review of a previous incarnation of it. I will be releasing a modification of it in the next few months. ;)

Shadows of Darkmoon has possibly the best enemy AI. . [url=http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Reviews.Detail&id=561]Review

Aielund doe shave a great story but it is designed for 3 MP players so if you solo it it is a huge challenge.

Have fun :)

Preferably something where you start with a higher level character or the leveling is fast.
Two that I'd recommend are Caereena- Krakona Rising and the Sands of Fate series (, [url=http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=modules.detail&id=4208]2, and 3). Both are epic level hack-and-slash with enough variety and background to keep things interesting.

Also, I haven't seen Tales of Arterra ( and [url=http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=29643&id=4047]2) mentioned yet in this thread, which I really can't recommend enough. Very well written series with a strong story, excellent characters, and well-balanced gameplay.

The more it resembles Diablo 2 the better :)

I made two mods and might finish part three it is called Amn's Destruction and you will need at least a levl. 20 PC. It is made for a levl. 40 PC. It is also an Adult Only series! So be warned!

Have fun! To be found at the NWN Vault.

I really enjoyed the PenUltima series - by the same guy who made the HexCoda mod. Pretty hack-and-slash, but well made and fun.

I'm getting ready to take a new character through NWN (rogue this time, played Sorcerer last time). I've heard that the Sands of Fate series are for hardcore twinked characters only. Is this true, or do people just complain because it's actually difficult?

The difficulty is definitely more geared towards people who take a powergaming approach to their character builds. I played it with a Fighter/Bard/RDD melee build that had torn through HotU pretty easily and still found myself reloading a fair number of times on some of the fights. The enemies are also frequent enough with enough HP that unless a character can deal a steady stream of significant damage it would probably get old pretty quick. My recommendation would be to get through HotU, and if you find yourself thinking "That was pretty easy, I wonder if there's anything significantly more difficult out there" then your character will probably be able to do alright in Sands of Fate.

Thank you! I might want to go with another sorcerer after all, then. Rogue's not exactly perfect for powergaming.

I definitely recommend doing the above with Tony K's <span class="podkreslenie">AI Mod</span> if you're looking to kick up the difficulty a bit.
Hex Coda creators nwvault page,

yeah id say hes made a few :D
Trying to plan a progression through community mods (into and through Darkness over Daggerford).

I am looking for a good and fairly up to date guide of single player modules that lets me know what level I should start at and what level I will finish at.

If they sort by location all the better as I would like to stay in FR.

Know of any good lists?

This one lists by location Modules listed by prime material plane
...and this one by level Ultimate NWN1 Module list ... Hope they help.

Have fun :)
My vote also for these earlier suggestions:

Everything by Adam MIller
(Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher/Demon compilation)
Gets better after start and absolutely brilliant before the end.
He's a genious at showing what can be done with the toolset, also plenty of combat & roleplay & romancing.

Everything by Stefan Gagne
Elegia Eternum and Excrucio eternum are dark psychological thrillers, Penultima series are humor to the tune of Terry Pratchett (Rerolled series are much better, but all are neat)
Hex Coda is a beautiful gem of something completely different, humor and grand adventure in a world where Open Source Magic fights Corporate Magic.

A Dance with Rogues
The Bastard of Cosigan

Adult content both in the usual sense, but also as in deep involving storylines in a realistic setting that wont appeal to hack&slash fans.

My own suggestions:

Modules by Baldecaran
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=User.EntriesListing&amp;id=5693
The Cave of Songs is the most ordinary of these, but has its highlights and serves as a starting point, if you want to take the same character through all his modules.
Honor Among Thieves is probably the best thief module ever, (unless it's A Dance with Rogues) very grimy, dark realistic setting with truly terrifying high magic lurking in the shadows.
The Prophet is the bees knees, maybe the best module series ever made. You can see the future, the world is going to end. Can anything be done?

The Wanderer
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&amp;id=3989
The best "slow starter" I've yet seen. You know the kind of adventure where you do odd jobs for few GP's, so you can buy that bow, so you can beat those few orcs, so you can search that cave. The world is open and extremely solidly built. You do things in your own order and you always have lots to do, but while you wait the world moves along.

A Tangled Web
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&amp;id=60987&amp;id=4345
Repeating myself a bit here, but if The Prophet isn't the best Module series, then it's this one. No custom content, just creativity and unbelievably captivating plot.

Pretty Good Character Creator

Quick and easy way to whip up the kind of character you need for that particular module. A Drow ranger with keen scimitars, a few potions and a couple of magic rings? You got it! Now off to adventure!
