Hello,
audio is not working when using a Logitech G35 Headset,
i've read on other forums that switching to basic USB headset drivers will make the headset work, but i was not able to make them work.

Is there any other information or a patch scheduled to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

i has this problem but with a wired sennheisser headset.

you need to change the windows setting for the headet, right click volume, playback options, propterties of your headphones. change them from 7.1 to 5.1 or normal headphones, then they will work

Just an fyi, the Logitech G35 is not capable of switching to true 5.1 or stereo on the Logitech drivers. You have to uninstall the drivers, install the generic Windows USB audio drivers, and restart your computer, and then you can switch to stereo.

I'm going to assume the OP didn't bother to restart.

Pretty much every other soundcard or usb headset on the planet should be able to switch down to, at the very least, stereo, without this workaround.

The downside to this is you lose everything in G35. But i gues its the only temp fix there is.

Damn im hoping for a patch from CD. =(
Well, i actually did not restart. The problem is, as Zhijn pointed out that i will miss some of the G35 features "downgrading" to the generic USB audio driver.

I am actually using some 3.5 sennheisser headphones while waiting for a patch. No sense in using the g35 as stereo headphones anyway

I am absolutely dumbfounded why you wouldn't play with the sennheissers as default to begin with. My sennheissers, like any real quality headset, sounds leaps and bounds better than any gimmicking "gaming" USB headset, and I do own a G35, so it's not like I've never used one. :p Damn my stint MMOing and everyone's insistence that I be on vent!

Mostly convenience, as i use the sennheiser when i play my bass and g35 on the computer (Due to the mic, and also because their sound quality is really nice especially with surround on), switching them every time i want to use a mic or when i have to play something it's really really annoying :D
Atleast you have options!!.

Im stuck with G35 no sound in TW2, or default audio with crappy sound for anything else outside TW2. xD.
On my G930 all problems are fixed by switching to stereo then back to surround. (Just bellow the power button)

This sorts the can't hear people speak bug for me.

I'm using the latest Logitech drivers.

Since the G35 physically can not receive anything but 7.1 sound, as in it isn't receiving any sound for it to re-mix into stereo to begin with using the Logitech drivers, this is physically impossible.

Your response sounds so similar to the response Logitech customer support has given for the last few years ever since the headset came onto market and gamers found out that any game without 7.1 sound support simply wouldn't work, clearly showing a complete lack of understanding of how their headset works on a physical, hardware, level.

To be clear, Logitech drivers aside, the hardware is fully capable of receiving non 7.1 sound. But, the Logitech drivers ONLY allow it to receive 7.1 sound, from which it can re-mix into stereo using the physical switch on the headset.

Logitech could have ended years of angst years ago by simply modifying their drivers. They haven't, and instead game after game has had to bend over backwards for this one obstinate company.

Edit: And, yes. I own a G35. I'm well aware of how it works. This problem with the Witcher 2 is a problem it's had with many, many games. It's a well known issue since practically the first day the headset appeared.

What can I say other than 'It works for me?' Also it's the wireless version not the G35.

I had assumed it worked because you're essentially turning it off and back on again and this fixes almost everything!

My first one the surround didn't work properly and didn't hold it's charge so I sent it back to the shop and got another, maybe yours is broken?

Well as far as i know every g35 wired headset has this problem, so unless every g35 headset is "broken" i don't think it's the case
As others have said, the G35 simply doesn't work with anything that doesn't give a 7.1 audio option and it can't be set to anything other than 7.1 in the Windows settings.

For me, my options are either using my soundcard and speakers or have no sound through my G35 headset. I'd prefer not to use the soundcard since I'd rather not have my kids overhearing the language in the game. :|

I hope that CDPR will patch the game to work with them or (better yet) that Logitech would actually provide some half decent patch support for their hardware but I'm not going to hold my breath.
I asked on that "chat board" about the G35 issue and i got:

Michał Kiciński:

G35 has external sound card and there is compatibility issue, already known. Please expect to have it fixed in upcoming patch - but not in 1.01 which will be released next week.

Well, it's nice to hear that they're planning on patching in support for it. :)
