He looks awful (vampirish) can't hear him, his fighting ability sucks!! He seems like the weakest link...which book did they get this character from??

I appreciate that he's showing a little more emmotions and expressive nuances in his speech but he's suppose to be awesome with a sword against humans. NEED A MOD HERE!!

Let's hope it gets better.. I know the fans complained about his looks and got us to this point. but gees .. maybe I'll find out later he's not the REAL Geralt!! (since I'm only at the point in the story where's retelling the storyline...

OK, Flamers can start now!!
The look is actually much more closer to that described by Sapkowski. He's ugly. Very well built, very manly, with inhuman muscles (but not steroid-buffed-puffed) and a terrifying gaze. Add to that the white hair and multiple scars... He's been mentioned as scaring children away with his looks more than once.

As for the combat - it's less cinematic now, that's for sure. Grittier and harder. I hope that with next levels it'll get grittier and more EPIC though.

Voiceacting... dunno, I'm playing the Polish dub. Jacek Rozenek has a great voice!
I completely disagree. Geralt is great and always has been.
Voiceacting isn't that bad, but there's something wrong with the audio. Geralt will be muttering and all quite at one part, then if you re-play that part again, his voice suddenly isn't muffled but OTHER characters muttering! Its really weird.
I like the look of Geralt a lot more in The Witcher 2; the other looks rather mopey in comparison.

I guess I can get use to that.. but he is uglier and still horny... can't believe he wanted to get back into that tent half way thru the siege!!! I was frustrated cause he died on me too many times....trying to get use to the narrow FOV can't tell which direction attacks are coming in.

My complaint is the english volume isn't as forceful as the French or German like maybe Geralt is turning gay or something...thats probably chapter 3 with Dandelion...oh no!!

THat's a pretty common complaint abotu English Voice Acting lacking force. Look at the popularity of Subbed over DUbbed for Anime. English voice actors sound far too campy and focus too much on lip syncing with the animation to bring forward the equivilent passion of the original. Also I think Japanese and German/Dutch have the advantage of being very intense/hostile sounding languages to begin with.
I like the fact that Geralt isn't a great looking lead character...kind of like Old Snake from MGS4. At first, I was like, "Why do I want to play as an old man?", but he turned out to be one of the most memorable characters I've played in a game. Part of Geralt's charm is that he IS ugly.
My second playthrough I hope will be Polish with english subs.

Gonna go look to see if I can switch mid-stream.

I agree with the mumbling and Geralt being inaudible at times with the english version.

Oh...and I like him ugly as well. He is so badass it doesn't matter.

I believe the audio issues are due to the game trying to dynamically balance the volume levels in order to allow for certain sounds to be heard over others. However, it seems to not work 100% properly and doesn't always prioritise speech. Understand that game audio is quite complex and requires a lot of intense dynamic processing for effects like reverb, occlusion, etc. as well as for making sure certain sounds stand out over others (dynamic noise shaping, gating, EQ, compression, etc.). My guess is that it's something that will be worked out in a future patch. For now, you can try to turn down music volume a notch (seems to be the biggest offender) or make sure you have subtitles on.

Haven't played yet, but I saw some Polish gameplay and his voice sounds much better than English version

I think you can. In the settings from the launcher you can select the language.
I love geralt's english voice actor but geralt's voice is WAY quieter than everyone else's voices.

It's extremely obvious, and it bugs me because im like SPEAK UP GERALT. Sure I can increase the volume but then everyone else and the other sounds will be too loud

I have no issues hearing Triss, Foltest, or anyone else but geralt is fucking talking so quiet it might as well be whispering loudly.

I like how he is less pasty skinned now, he was to ashy in the first game, but I guess he did just crawl out of the grave in that first one ...
Geralt now looks like a skeleton
