Well it looks like Norton Sonar decided that the file was suspicious after it was applied. Now I am unable to launch the game. Anyone else have this problem? The good news is Norton happily notifies me that my computer is now safe from this dasterdly threat. Hope I can get the game running again...got a few many hours invested so far.
Any work arounds? Any luck by anyone getting the game to run again short of completely reinstalling?
Thanks!

ok.....think I found something that works. I had to go to the bin folder and use the exe. file from there...which interestingly appears to be updated to 1.3. The game launched and seems to play fine if I do that. Although I no longer have a launcher to change game settings and so forth.
ok another edit. I ended up going to Nortons quarantine and having it reinstate the file. All appears back to normal now.

If you right click the icon and view recent history and then bring up the details of the removal of the file you may be able to restore the file from there or if not go to options and add the Witcher 2 folder to your sonar exceptions and then re-apply the patch. This should get your launcher back.

Byeohazard: Norton
There's your problem right there. ;)

I'm glad you got it working, though. A lot of people using Norton have reported the same problem; and solved it the same way, as far as I know.
I have my whole E:\ partition set as an exception. It's where my games are installed. You never know when your anti virus programm freaks about a file. :D

However it would be interesting to know as to why Norton react to this launcher but not to the one before - only that it´s decided do be a "rare" file ... so far :) ? Or if its something "curious" about it ...
I had to go dig around in the trust department and have norton "trust" the launcher before i could play because only a few people had used this patch in the norton community.Even having norton put the launcher back from quarantine didn't seem to mater until i made norton "trust" hope that helps too.Right click your launcher , click on norton file insight and look for user trust ,click trust this file .Now you should be good to go :)

One of the reasons I don't use Norton. It will take over your computer and is intrusive. I use Avast! and at the outset it asked me if I wanted to run it in Sandbox or normally. I just checked normal and not to show the message again for that, so it ignores it. For the most part Avast! just runs quietly in the background. McAfee isn't so hot either for that matter.
