Option to permanently remove games from our library
I agree with OP & other users on this. There should be a way to not get demos, trials & giveaways be permanently tied to your account. I get why because these sites wanna make sure there are legit users and not bots for security reasons, etc but then you get people complaining that their library is filled with stuff they'd rather not see ever again & rather have a very clean library without this stuff always being tied to your collection. It doesn't hurt to add an option if people are wanting it.
I don't think this is a good idea. If someone hacks your account, for instance, he could delete games! Hide content seems to be more than enough.
Seriously, this is beyond sad that this even has to be a request.
Honestly, you shouldn't even be able to add Alphas, Demos, Prologues, and trials to your account at ALL. It should just be a free download whenever you want.
I have a few of them I added over the years without thinking about it that I regret and they are still there BECAUSE WE CAN'T FRIGGIN REMOVE THEM.
Got them marked as hidden but that shouldn't be needed just to have them not show up in your page, let alone if you have a batch downloader that doesn't register if the game is hidden or not.
I got this stupid Antifa game I got for free (Tonight We Riot) and didn't know what it was when I clicked add to my library. Horrible game and horrible people. Would love to get rid of it permanently. Also have 2 versions of Fallout and Fallout 2 and would like to get rid of one of them too. I have demo's that I purchased where I have bought the full game, so would like to get rid of those too.
A 30 day deletion timer for this potential feature could help solve issues of users changing their minds as well as serve as a measure against hackers trying to exploit this feature.
+1, sometimes hiding the game is not enough, you just want to deeply cleanup library - let us remove it permanently from the account if one wish to.
Please bring this feature
Nearly 6 years after... GOG did a Legend of Keepers giveaway not long ago, why would i want the Prologue in my library ? I hope GOG gives the option one day, once its done, it will be Epic's turn to be hassled with this. Anyway happy 2024 to everyone :)
This shoul be implemented at least for demos.
Please add this as a feature.
Give us the option ASAP!
Without a doubt, this is my most wanted feature from GOG.
Hopefully they'll figure a way to do it.
Both Steam and Epic have this working like a charm, the first one even without contacting support, so don't understand why GOG refuse to make it happen.
Yeah I understand I'd love this feature to remove everything, and get some money back at least 50% of the money!
absolutely bonkers that this isn't a feature...
This is precisely why I have decided not to buy anything else from gog.
Just finished going through two decades of games I definitely didn't want on my Steam account, I deleted A LOT, now when I look at my much smaller list I feel very relieved. I dislike going on to my download page on GOG knowing there are plenty of games I'd like to remove, bringing it down to size and making it easier to access the games I like.
For linux person down below (cant edit comment my previous comment), use Lutris and follow the instructions. Use the techpowerup AIO visualbasic to get all versions without conflicts, it runs all games through the launcher with a little tweaking on a couple. As a linux user the tweaking is minor (edit a conf to use direct 9 or 11 before launching for example, Witcher 2 or 3). Anyway good luck!
yeah pls it causes clutter and just sucks in general not to be able to remove stuff for whatever reason. Just say if people choose to remove and not hide (multiple accepts), you wont put it back and you dont have to deal with any other requests about it (unless you want to)
This is my number 1 wishlist item, please add this
This should really be an option. The Hide feature is ok, but some of the games I want to get rid of were added to my library without me adding or asking. Others were free games I added and then quickly discovered I did not like. We should be able to remove these ones at least, if not purchases. Do it GOG!
I hope they do this and add Linux support.
Why the F'K haven't you fixed this yet gog???
Or at least allow to mark a game as 'I'll never buy it' and let me filter by it ;-)
Also, not being able to get rid of demos once I try them is a major discouragement to try demos. I have like forty in a relatively small library and hiding them doesn't satisfy- I tried them, I either wishlisted the game or decided I don't want it, now I want to be rid of the demo! Similar with free games. If I am committing to them forever, I am much less likely to try them!
Hallelujah! I thought I was the only one here who thought that. I have two games that I got for free without being on the site that I regretted because every time I refresh they appear on top, I hate it!
I too would like this feature.
Agree
This is a really simple & small feature that would be good.
for now, you'll have to live with your purchase of Sakura Clicker
Please add this option. Like others have said. Steam has this capability. It shouldn't be difficult to implement.
i'd also be very glad if GOG copied Steam on this one
Same here. I have a couple of games that I regret buying and would love to get rid off.
I think Steam implemented this feature nicely as it still allows people to restore the game you chose to remove so, if you somehow did it by accident or someone hacked your account, you could still get the game back.
I second this. I have way too much games in my library that I will most likely never play. Or I simply don't want to own anymore. I even contacted gog support to remove a bunch. But they said it was not possible to do so.
Removing games from Steam is simple and I would very much have this option for gog as well.
