Story:Age of Mythology is a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Drawing inspiration from Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology rather than historical events, it diverges from the Age of Empires series while sharing familiar gameplay elements. The campaign follows Arkantos, an Atlantean admiral embarking on a journey through the lands of the game's three cultures, hunting for a cyclops who is in league with Poseidon against Atlantis.Show more

One of the games that most lulled my childhood. As soon as I got out of school, I'd rush to the PC to play this incredible game. This game made me love mythology, because it's a veritable encyclopedia of Greek, Egyptian and Scandinavian mythology. In short, why learn mythological history at school when you have this wonderful game? ahah^^

Probably one of my favorite games of all-time. Still have the manuals with the entire tech tree and the strategy guides. Worth preserving for the Fall of the Trident campaign alone. I do enjoy the Retold remake but the VO, the 2000s graphics, and the music still hold up.

This had one of the greatest campaigns in a strategy game ever. The game takes you from Greece to Egypt to Scandinavia in a plot to stop the titans from being released upon the world. The gameplay is stellar as well, with 3 unique civs (4 with the expansion) each with its own mechanics. Not quite as varied as Starcaft, but still good. Sadly I don't think Micros*ft will ever release this game DRM free.

I played this game for thousands of hours as a kid and recently got into Retold (the remake) with my dad and my friends. As a kid this game inspired me greatly, and made me interested in mythology and history (which led me to AOE3 later on). The reason why this game should be on GOG is simple; the game in its original form (+Titans expansion) is not available anywhere which makes this a top candidate for the preservation program by virtue of that alone. Additionally, I would like to see the entire AOE franchise brought over here (including the newly released Definitive Editions for AOE1-3 and Age of Mythology Retold). If one of the goals for the revival of the Age of Empires franchise was to make sure they thrived for another decade+ then GOG and a DRM-free option would be a logical next step toward that. At the point of writing this Microsoft Gaming has published one game on GOG so far and that is Psychonauts 2 (under the Xbox Game Studios Publishing label) I hope more things from their catalogue can show up here DRM-free with the AOE franchise (and more specifically AOM) in tow.
This (with the Titans Expansion) was a major part of my childhood! Definitely deserves preserving, even if Retold's been a wonderful remaster. Pleased to see it with so many votes!

Made me interested in Mythology as a kid, actually experiencing an odyssey of Arkantos and his friends made it one of the most engaging pieces of media for me, and I wish they had made more content for it.

One of my favourite games when I was a kid. I loved norse and egyptian mithologies in particular and playing it as a little girl have taught me many things about epic stories from Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt or Viking religion.

Age of Empires' fantasy brother. Getting to use and encounter mythical creatures was really refreshing to the whole AoE scene. And having all these different mythologies meeting on the field of battle was very much fun to see. I really need a GOG release so I can finally get a refresher on this game.
I'll probably remember one game against my cousin all my life: when I managed to find his proxy Longhouse with a pig instead of my scout. There's good/bad luck and then there's discovering a proxy production structure with a unit with ONE LOS.
Those games also need your vote!

Floor 13
Floor 13Somewhere in London is a secret organization that is based on the 13th floor of an office building. The sole purpose for this organization’s existence is to keep the current British government in power at any cost - specifically, that means helping the current Prime Minister keep ahead of his competition in the polls. Floor 13 is a management simulation controlled by a menu-based system (similar to Darklands) and is presented in black and white for a film noir feel. Players take the role of the Director General in this secret organization, and are given a target date of 20 days to attend to their duties. During this period, performance will be evaluated based on the Prime Minister's polling results. If the PM is doing well, the agency will be expanded and will have more equipment and services available to handle the situations it will encounter later in the game. If the PM is behind, Floor 13 risks reduction in the number of services it has available or even the player's continued employment. After each successful 20 day period, another 20 days are added to the calendar, full of new problems and objectives. During the time between target dates, players will have to deal with various problems, both externally and internally. Some examples include: saving the son of the U.S. President from terrorists, breaking up a drug ring controlled by a VIP recently honored by the Queen, or even prevent a scientist in the British space agency from publicly stating that their latest achievement has been a total sham (shades of the film "Capricorn One"). While you are completing these tasks there is another secret society that will pressure you to have its goals completed, and this may very well interfere with the missions officially assigned to Floor 13. The Floor 13 organization is not a benevolent one and players will need to do some rather unpleasant things to ensure that the democratic machine runs smoothly. Examples of activities include: searching and looting people’s homes, calling in commando units for heavy assault purposes, wire-tapping and trailing people without bothering to go through legal channels, discrediting notable people through the media and infiltrating established organizations. At times, you might even need to detain citizens and torture them (the torture bits can get rather graphic at times, though it's doled out through a text report), or even assassinate troublesome proles (one of the few political policy games, along with Shadow President and CyberJudas, to allow for such an activity). However if players become too eager at performing these "black hat" activities, they may draw too much attention to the agency and may summon the attention of a certain "Mr. Garcia" (who is good at helping noisy Director Generals fly through office windows).
