One of the games that most lulled my childhood. As soon as I got out of school, I'd rush to the PC to play this incredible game. This game made me love mythology, because it's a veritable encyclopedia of Greek, Egyptian and Scandinavian mythology. In short, why learn mythological history at school when you have this wonderful game? ahah^^

Probably one of my favorite games of all-time. Still have the manuals with the entire tech tree and the strategy guides. Worth preserving for the Fall of the Trident campaign alone. I do enjoy the Retold remake but the VO, the 2000s graphics, and the music still hold up.

This had one of the greatest campaigns in a strategy game ever. The game takes you from Greece to Egypt to Scandinavia in a plot to stop the titans from being released upon the world. The gameplay is stellar as well, with 3 unique civs (4 with the expansion) each with its own mechanics. Not quite as varied as Starcaft, but still good. Sadly I don't think Micros*ft will ever release this game DRM free.

I played this game for thousands of hours as a kid and recently got into Retold (the remake) with my dad and my friends. As a kid this game inspired me greatly, and made me interested in mythology and history (which led me to AOE3 later on). The reason why this game should be on GOG is simple; the game in its original form (+Titans expansion) is not available anywhere which makes this a top candidate for the preservation program by virtue of that alone. Additionally, I would like to see the entire AOE franchise brought over here (including the newly released Definitive Editions for AOE1-3 and Age of Mythology Retold). If one of the goals for the revival of the Age of Empires franchise was to make sure they thrived for another decade+ then GOG and a DRM-free option would be a logical next step toward that. At the point of writing this Microsoft Gaming has published one game on GOG so far and that is Psychonauts 2 (under the Xbox Game Studios Publishing label) I hope more things from their catalogue can show up here DRM-free with the AOE franchise (and more specifically AOM) in tow.
This (with the Titans Expansion) was a major part of my childhood! Definitely deserves preserving, even if Retold's been a wonderful remaster. Pleased to see it with so many votes!
I'll probably remember one game against my cousin all my life: when I managed to find his proxy Longhouse with a pig instead of my scout. There's good/bad luck and then there's discovering a proxy production structure with a unit with ONE LOS.

Made me interested in Mythology as a kid, actually experiencing an odyssey of Arkantos and his friends made it one of the most engaging pieces of media for me, and I wish they had made more content for it.

One of my favourite games when I was a kid. I loved norse and egyptian mithologies in particular and playing it as a little girl have taught me many things about epic stories from Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt or Viking religion.

Age of Empires' fantasy brother. Getting to use and encounter mythical creatures was really refreshing to the whole AoE scene. And having all these different mythologies meeting on the field of battle was very much fun to see. I really need a GOG release so I can finally get a refresher on this game.
Those games also need your vote!
Dune
DuneDune is a 1992 video game, based upon Frank Herbert's science fiction novel of the same name. Developed by Cryo Interactive, is the first of the Dune computer games. Dune blended adventure with economic and military strategy, and is considered by many the most immersive Dune computer game. Loosely following the story of the novel, the game casts the player as Paul Atreides, with the ultimate goal of driving the Harkonnen from Planet Dune, while managing spice extraction, military, and later, ecology through the native Fremen tribes. As the player progresses, his troops are equipped with weapons from "crysknives" to atomics, tap into Paul's latent psychic powers, and get acquainted with such characters from the book as Chani and Liet-Kynes.

The Lost Vikings
The Lost VikingsThe Lost Vikings is a puzzle-platform video game developed by Silicon & Synapse (now Blizzard Entertainment) and published by Interplay. The game features infinite opportunities of retries in case the player loses one of the Vikings. In 2015, The Lost Vikings were added as a playable hero in Heroes of the Storm, allowing players to control the three Vikings as individual units, making a unique departure from the typical heroes available. Character abilities: All three Vikings (Erik, Baleog and Olaf) have three health points which they can lose by getting hurt by enemies or by falling from great heights, and the ability to carry and use items, mainly keys, bombs, and food (which restore health points). Each of the Vikings has a unique set of abilities: Erik can run faster than the other two, can jump, and can bash through some walls (and enemies) with his helmet. Baleog can kill enemies with his sword, or from a distance with his bow (and a "life-time supply of arrows"). The bow can also be used to hit switches from a distance. Olaf can block enemies and their projectiles with his shield, and use his shield as a hang glider. Olaf's shield can also be used as a stepping stone for Erik to enable him to reach higher ground, which would not be possible without the shield.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Breath of Fire: Dragon QuarterBreath of Fire: Dragon Quarter is a radical departure from the previous titles of the Breath of Fire series, and in some ways from standard Japanese-style role-playing games in general. The game is built like a huge dungeon crawler, with no overworld map. The combat is tactical: each character has action points (AP), which can be used to move around the screen during an enemy encounter, and perform a variety of combo attacks. There is no magic in the game, and many of the items found in dungeons are random. All the enemies are visible on screen. Depending on who first initiated a physical contact, the party or the enemies get an extra turn in battles. The game allows (and even encourages) the player to restart it from the beginning, keeping the items and the party experience. The game also features a special counter - Ryu can use his traditional dragon transformation abilities, but the counter raises with each such transformation, and when the counter reaches 100, the game is over. Raising the D-ratio allows characters to access new areas every time the game is replayed.
