The characters find themselves in a strange, red-hued world in which the horizon slopes upward in all directions, eventually vanishing into a crimson haze at the limits of sight. Their mission is to find and make allies in this new world or else the kingdom and its culture will perish.
The player leads a party of four characters (either the default party or one that the player has created). Characters and races can be chosen from the normal D&D options. The gameworld is viewed from an isometric perspective and the characters can roam around in realtime. Battles are turn based. Necromania: Trap of DarknessIn the dark fantasy world of Necromania: Trap of Darkness, players are thrust into an isometric action-tactical adventure reminiscent of the iconic Diablo series. Set in four distinct and treacherous realms, the game introduces a refreshing twist by allowing players to assume the roles of seven sinister anti-heroes, deviating from the typical "good heroes" seen in other games. Developed by the Slovakian team Darksoft Game Development Studio and the Czech company Cinemax, Necromania challenges players to navigate labyrinthine environments and overcome various enemies and creatures to acquire fragments of a powerful magic key.
The story centers around the fallen dark lord, Ragnar, who finds himself imprisoned by the forces of the Absurdian king, Bill Cocoton. In a bid to set Ragnar free and seize control of the realm, seven of Ragnar's loyal minions awaken from their slumber, each vying to obtain the magic keys that can unlock their master's prison. However, only one of them can ultimately lead the army of darkness to victory. As players progress through the game's numerous levels, they must strategize, laying traps and leveraging the intricacies of the environments to outsmart their adversaries.
While Necromania: Trap of Darkness received mixed reviews, critics praised its multiplayer mode, even though finding opponents proved challenging. However, the game faced criticism for its unrefined gameplay mechanics and notable difficulty. The title offered an interesting blend of puzzle-like elements and combat, with an emphasis on trap utilization rather than direct confrontation. The lack of balance among the character classes and dated visuals added to the overall underwhelming experience. LSD: Dream EmulatorIn LSD the player navigates through a psychedelic dream world. The idea is simply to walk around and explore things in a dream environment. There are many strange environments in this world, and one way to travel through them is by foot. However, if the player bumps into walls or other objects in the game, they will be transported to another environment instantaneously through a system called "linking". Bumping into people, animals, or special objects usually results in a stranger dream.
Each dream can last up to 10 minutes, after which the player will 'wake up', when the screen fades away and the player is sent back to the game's initial menu. However, if the player falls off a cliff or into a hole in the dream, then the player will wake up immediately. There is a graph that appears at the end of each dream that keeps track of the player's state of mind; the states are Upper, Downer, Static and Dynamic, as referring to the environments and the general feel of the dream the player just went through. This game has a turn-based battle system like traditional RPGs of its time. The player can move a certain number of tiles or steps in order to either use a physical attack, or use a magic spell or rest in order to regain mana, or use an item. Each character has their own class, and levels, as well as stats. Each character can gain levels and learn new skills that can aid them in battle. When the characters move is based on their speed stat. There is also some sort of inventory system. It also allows the player to walk around in some towns and talk to NPCs. You take control of eight different characters. There is also a money system as well as a buying item system that allows the player to purchase equipment and items with in game currency. Money can be found by performing certain quests as well as being found by opening certain chests in the game. Every mission is played in sequence in accordance to the story.
