Discovering this game was something special. This is such a weird game with weird choices and feels so of its time that I fell in love with just how odd it was. I was hooked from the moment the guy from the intro cut scene got shot out of a window in the weirdest way possible.
This isnt talked about much so I would love to see it with its patched version show up on GoG! Would be interesting to maybe even have lower patched versions of the game too since they differ in small ways each patch. It even came with a quest creator! Imagine this game getting fan made quests over 2 decades later!
An important target for preservation. Every current method to play this game - dgvoodoo2, softgpu with Windows 98 VM, VMWare Windows XP - produces graphical glitches and makes it impossible to see the authentic game graphics.
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. EarthBound BeginningsEarthBound Beginnings is the first installment in the EarthBound / Mother series. It was developed by Ape Inc., Nintendo Tokyo R&D Products, and Pax Softnica, and was published by Nintendo for the Famicom on July 27, 1989.
Though officially translated into English under the name EarthBound in 1990 complete with a variety of updates and new content, the planned release of the North American localization was ultimately cancelled due to Nintendo of America ending support for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Despite this, the updates made to the game for the English localization was included in the Japanese Mother 1+2 rerelease for Game Boy Advance in 2003.
