A surprisingly high production little educational game that monopolized my imagination as a child.
The game opens by infodumping its high stakes upon you, backed by an epic score. The soundtrack can at times be highly atmospheric, and is generally quality (when the loops are long enough). All characters are extensively voice acted with some good performances. They obviously want you to care about the story, and child me certainly did.
Some mini games are genuinely pretty fun, with not many honkers I actively avoided. Each gameplay loop randomly assigns you games to play (though you can play whatever you want at your will) to progress the story. I never got particularly far in the 'story', though not for difficulty - each 'chapter' is the same, playing minigames to earn the right to take a historical quiz, that pinpoints the time travel interference you're supposed to prevent, framing the story.
It's repetitive, but I still enjoy coming back to this game occasionally, when I want to play the kitchen minigame that has you calculating measurements (can be frantic at higher difficulties), or simply when I want to listen to the incredible (if short) music loop that accompanies the breakout minigame linked to biology fun facts.
Dark EarthDark Earth is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure game for the PC.
Dark Earth takes place several centuries in the future, when a meteor collision with Earth tossed up great clouds of dust that blocked out the sun. Earth's remaining survivors began to seek refuge beneath small openings in the clouds, the few places light could be found. Those that remained in the 'dark earth' were hunted by strange creatures, infected with the darkness.
To shelter themselves from the dangerous 'dark earth', the people began to form cities beneath the light called 'Stallites'. At the time of the game, most of the citizens of the stallite have forgotten their history and now worship the light as a god. The stalites are run by 'Sun Priests', who maintain order and prevent the creatures of darkness from harming the city. The game follows the story of Arkhan, a "guardian of fire", protector of the stallite 'Sparta' and the Sun Priests.
After an attack on the sun priests, Arkhan has a poison thrown into his face that begins to infect him with the dark sickness. He begins to mutate into a creature of the dark and has to find a cure before his transformation is complete. Along the way, he is treated as an enemy by most of his former friends while he struggles to uncover the conspiracy behind the attack.Action Fantasy Historical Science fiction

Resident Evil was developed over the course of one year and two months as part of an exclusivity deal between Capcom and Nintendo. It was directed by Shinji Mikami, who also designed and directed the original Resident Evil. Mikami decided to produce a remake because he felt that the original had not aged well and that the GameCube's capabilities could bring the game closer to his original vision. The game retains the same graphical presentation, with 3D models superimposed over pre-rendered backgrounds. However, the quality of the graphics were vastly improved. The remake also features new gameplay mechanics, revised puzzles, additional explorable areas, a revised script, and new story details including an entire subplot cut from the original game.
Upon release, Resident Evil received critical acclaim from video game journalists, who praised its graphics and improved gameplay over the original game. It is often described as one of the best, scariest, and most visually impressive entries in the Resident Evil series. Despite this, the game sold worse than expected and led Capcom to change the direction of the series to a more action-oriented approach. In 2008, the game was ported to the Wii, featuring a new control system.
