by Eon Software, Inc., Electronic Arts
Genres:Strategy, Turn-based strategy (TBS)
Themes:Fantasy, Historical
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:The game is based on the board game Borderlands by Eon Productions (best known for their highly acclaimed board game, Cosmic Encounter), and was marketed with the slogan "Better than Risk!" to identify it as a global conquest game similar to Risk. It proved to be one of EA's best-selling titles of 1986. GameSpy awarded Lords of Conquest a "Gotcha" award as one of the top games of its era. You and your opponent start by selecting countries in turn from a map. This can be randomly generated based on requested numbers of countries and volumes of water, chosen from one of the 19 predefined ones, or created using the built-in editor. Your army possesses infantry, cavalry and a water fleet. Natural or produced resources such as gold and iron are identified - countries containing these might be the best ones to invade. You can play at 4 skill levels, and decide how big a factor luck is. With calculations settled by the computer, players can concentrate on the power games.Show more

Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monster Coliseum
Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monster ColiseumThis 3D board game consists of a series of duels, which are played with cards. The game has been split up in a Campaign Mode, in which you take on all levels of the Monster Coliseum on your own, a Free Battle Mode where you play skirmish matches against enemies defeated in the campaign, and a versus mode to take on a human opponent. Before starting, you have to choose a symbol, assign parameters to it (based on monster points, action points and power points) and buy a starter kit card deck. In a typical campaign game, you start in the entrance hall, where you manage your cards and monsters. To duel, you choose one of the four areas with five levels each, and defeat the opponents. New monsters are acquired by winning the match. The turn-based duels are played as a card game. Both characters start with a deck of cards and a number of health points. When a health status reaches zero, the battle is over. You attack your opponent by summoning monsters and assigning abilities to them. Trick cards can be used to gain both offensive and defensive advantages. Before each duel, you have to pick a monster that is up for ante, and the fighting is influenced by various parameters, including the land form you are playing on.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the RosesLoosely based on historical events that took place in England in the 15th century, known as the Wars of the Roses (a battle for power between the houses of Lancaster and York), Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses sees the heroes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and card game series, Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba, assume the identity of the head of the Lancaster house (Red Rose, later the Tudor dynasty), Henry Tudor, and the leader of the Yorkist faction (White Rose), Christian Rosenkreuz, respectively. The player controls a Rose Duelist, who is initially sent by Henry Tudor (Yugi) and the Lancastrians to Stonehenge, with the mission of disrupting a barrier imposed by the White Rose forces. However, Rosenkreuz (Seto) arrives and offers the hero to side with the Yorkists. From that point on, the player can choose to follow either the Red or the White Rose, in two different scenarios.

Conquest Earth: First Encounter
Conquest Earth: First EncounterThis RTS (real-time strategy) game tells the story of a futuristic war between the humans and the inhabitants of Jupiter (Jovians). The player can choose to command the armies of either side. Humans and Jovians have different menu layouts and tactics which they can employ for offensive and defensive actions. Also, the Jovians must deal with the atmosphere of the Earth, which obstructs their view, by using special troops; the humans also face a problem in the sulphur shrouds of Jupiter. The game implements its own view system for battles. Some may know it from their TV's - there's a picture-in-picture option to view 3 different locations at the same time. You can choose from two modes of play, normal RTS, or a more complicated variant which is just playable if you're confident with the manual.
