  • What made it fun or challenging?
  • Why do you want this game on GOG?
Admittedly, my biggest experience with this game was probably the PS2 version, which is similar but missing a few things from the PC port... but still, it features most of the changes, and I was honestly shocked by how much more fun I had with this version than on SNES! The movement feels amazing with arguably the best feeling wall jump in Mega Man X history, I love the sound effects... honestly, if a modern version of the PC port added the option to change to between the soundtracks at any time from the pause screen and fixed the load times, it'd easily be the definitive version of the game in my eyes. Rather importantly, the old PC port of X3 is not to be confused with the version available in X Legacy Collection. That version is the SNES version, which has some notable differences. So... why bother with re-releasing the old, forgotten PC port of X3? Could always re-release the PS1 version or something after all. Well, to me, what's most special about it is the rebalanced difficulty curve it optionally adds. Yes, that's right, the old PC version of X3 exclusively, not even the PS1 and PS2 version had this, actually optionally adds a new easy mode, which generally feels like a more fine-tuned experience than the original game. If you're the sort who found X3's early game rough or unfun on SNES and only really liked it once you got powerful later on, you're in luck! This may be the exact version for you, if GOG ever re-releases it. I still have some hope to some day get to see the dream of the definitive official version of X3 like that... as a huge fan of Mega Man, it'd be a dream come true! Let's see if we can get this overlooked gem of a port the attention it deserves, y'all!

Wolfenstein 3D
Wolfenstein 3DWolfenstein 3D is a first-person shooter presented with rudimentary 3D graphics and a follow-up to the top-down infiltration game Castle Wolfenstein. The game is broken up into levels, each of which is a flat plane divided into areas and rooms by a grid-based pattern of walls and doors, all of equal height. Each level is themed after Nazi bunkers and buildings. To finish a level, the player must traverse through the area to reach an elevator. Levels are grouped together into named episodes, with the final level focusing on a boss fight with a particularly difficult enemy. While traversing the levels, the player must fight Nazi guards and soldiers, dogs, and other enemies while managing supplies of ammunition and health. While later releases of the game included the Nocturnal Missions expansion, this initial release did not.

The unknown interrogator (portrayed by Paul Pape) questions Kellar about an arms smuggling and terrorist operation called the Seventh Wave. Wolfenstein
WolfensteinWolfenstein is the direct sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny/Wolfenstein RPG. It featured a "re-imagined" disguised dark-haired B.J. Blazkowicz, retaining the unshaven look seen in Return to Castle Wolfenstein and dressed in civilian clothes rather than his usual military uniform. The game mainly consists of the player shooting his way through hordes of different types of Nazis, ranging from normal soldier to ninjas. To deal with the large amount of enemies, the player has access to many typical WWII-weapons like the German MP40 or K98 rifle. In addition, during the course of the game he finds the medallion and learns four powers. While at first entering the Veil only allows him so see enemies more clearly and use strange flying creatures as bombs, he is later able to slow down time, surround himself with a protective shield or make himself stronger. However, the medallion's powers drain its energy, which needs to be refilled at power-spots that are nearly invisible in the real world.

With your army reduced to a handful and your artillery depleted, further resistance seems impossible. But in a hidden underground laboratory, a team of scientists has at least perfected a new kind of fighting machinery: a bionic arm that extends and contracts, providing unheard-of strength and maneuverability. Combined with an arsenal of rapid-fire, armor-piercing, and heat-seeking weaponry, this will put the power of an entire army in the hands of one man... one carefully chosen soldier, who has what it takes to become a new breed of unstoppable commando... a Bionic Commando. And you are that soldier! Your mission will take you through the heavily-patrolled wilderness surrounding the enemy headquarters, and into the very heart of the fortress itself. Even to the most courageous soldier, it would seem an impossible challenge. But there has never been a soldier like the Bionic Commando!
