Install WideScreen before mods or after ?

Notes:
- I am using 1280x768 resolution (by screen 13XX x 768
- Mods i will install
BG1 TOSC Game Text Update
BG1 FixPack
Faster BG
bg1 tweaks
bgqe
BG1 Unfinished Business

Widescreen and GUI mod should be installed before any others, IIRC.

Widescreen mod should be installed LAST, not first.
I think your install order should go like this:
BG1 FixPack
Game text Update
Faster BG
bg1 tweaks
GUI
Widescreen

I don't know what bgqe is so I cant comment on that.

According to this guide, the widescreen mod should indeed be installed last.

However, that is obviously for Tutu, which provides a good guideline for other IE games but isn't always going to map 1:1.

In the two modding guides I've written for IWD1 and BG1: TOSTC, I've put the widescreen mod first.

Two reasons for that, the first is that the GUI mod specifically needs to come after widescreen installation, unlike with Tutu, and the second is personal (bad) experience. I've found the widescreen mod awfully finicky to install and had it fail on more than one occasion for mysterious reasons. Every time it did, it was a time when I installed it later in the process.

In my experience, installing it first worked and caused no problems later in the installation.

Of course I'm not saying installing it last (though still before the GUI mod) is wrong, it sounds like it should be the correct thing. But I've provided a recommendation based on a tested installation order.

I made a new install to BG and WideScreen only But i am facing this error after selecting new game -> character

Note:I don't use GUI mod now.

Someone on this thread had the exact same error. It seems that they were able to fix it by changing the resolution of the widescreen mod.

This is a different error

It is the same error the other user reported in post 5 of that thread here the user says that [When I exit it through the menu it then says "An assertion failed in D:\Dev\Baldur\ChUI.cpp at line number 773"].

Even though you aren't using the GUI mod now, I'm wondering if something from that or the widescreen mod was left behind from the first install - maybe in the registry as there are extensive calls being made to CHITIN.KEY according to the mod debug logs.

The only thing I can think of is to do a completely clean install, by un-installing BG - ensuring the folder is deleted, re-boot then re-install BG. Make sure that works before installing widescreen. If it fails again, run the GUI mod anyway as you've got nothing to lose and it did seem to help the other user.

If you are up for it, you could check the debug logs SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG (and SETUP-TWM_GUI.DEBUG if you do install the GUI mod again) by opening them with Notepad and checking if there are any errors, even if the mods say they installed successfully.

I installed the GUI mod but the same error appered

I uninstalled the game then installed the game ,The game is working now on big resolution without installing widescreen & GUI mod !! really strange ??!!!
