It is my understanding that BGT allows you to continue into BG2 with characters that didn't get to be party members in BG2, like Kivan or Xan. My question is how is that developed? Do they become hollow shells in BG2, or do they continue to have character development?

I ask because there are third party mods that add those characters, will they become unnecessary, because I was planning on using them.
