i'd like to see fallout, and fallout2 done with the tactics engine bit of work to change the ui but still and also adding more weapons to them
Sounds like a fun project! <snark>Let us know when you're finished with that.</snark>

C'mon, what was I supposed to say?

Seriously though, sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to see something like this. It's just unlikely to ever happen.

Some programming guru might be able to hack together a prototype with GemRB though.

but yes dreams are free now i need $5 royalties from u lol
I doubt it ever happens as there simply is no interest for modding FO:Tactics (it's almost exlusivly centered around FO2). There have been several attempts at porting FO to FO2 and even combining the two in using FO2 engine but none of the projects have been completed so far. There are few engine remake in various stages of development but I'm not sure if any of them actually aim to port either FO to the new engine. Mostly they seem to intend to build new games using FO 1,2&T assests.

Edit: Shouldn't this be in Fallout forum instead?

its an idea sort of thing from looking at baldurs gate megamod BGT so i think it slots in here for more people possiable know BGT here then in FO or vise versa
The only thing I have to wonder is why. Both Fallout and Fallout 2 look, run and play excellently on modern operating systems, and both are largely identical, engine-wise from an end-user standpoint. If you add Tactics into that equation, well, it does support higher resolutions out of the box, but its game engine is totally different and built for an entirely separate style of game. Exactly what benefit would such a port bring? There are already plenty of mods for Fallout and Fallout 2 to improve its visuals. While the original Baldur's Gate has some major technical issues on newer systems, crashes, save corruption, and other major problems which can be fixed by using the newer Baldur's Gate II engine, I just don't see Fallout and Fallout 2 benefiting in any way from such a procedure. At best, it'd be a "because we can" sort of project.
We will have to wait for the OP to comment on that of course, but I interpreted it as the intention of the port being to actually convert the gameplay to Fallout Tactics style. Which I think is a cool idea.
Problem is, it's pretty hard to move Fallout to the Baldur's Gate engine as they're based on totally different and mostly incompatible rule sets; to make the underlying AD&D work with SPECIAL is a serious undertaking and I don't see it easily, if at all, doable.
The OP stated he wanted to use the Fallout Tactics engine, not the BG engine. This thread is miscatagorized and has nothing to do with Baldur's Gate or the Infinity Engine whatsoever.

Still an interesting topic that could make for some entertaining dicussion. Hopefully a moderator will move it to the Fallout forums, though that seems unlikely as moderators seem to be scarce to nonexistent on the forums these days.
yer i know the becuase we can but is that bad :P but what about turning turn base off for combat and different stance's and being able to get more control of your guys in FO
