I have found playing BG1 and 2 were made much more pleasurable with a printed manual by my side.

I was tempted to print a manual via lulu.com for a different game (just upload the pdfs for a game and have the book printed and shipped for $10 or so).

But then I saw on Amazon that these games are dirt cheap brand new. It'd be cheaper to just buy the whole game than print a manual on lulu. I figured I'd pass this along in case anyone else wanted to look into getting the games' physical retail version for the purpose of the book:

Baldur's Gate 2: $6.49 (free shipping on orders over $25)
*this would be what I'd recommend -- cheaper and easy

The free shipping might be U.S. only. I'm not sure.
Yea but the printed manuals have enough mistakes in them that I'm not so sure they are worthwhile buying. Except for the charts for characters and the spell lists that is. Ohh, and the names of a few of the more powerful items in the game. All of which you can get online and then print off.
