This thread is to try and give a good idea what you should and should not install to enhance your baldurs gate experience.
1) First and Foremost, Baldur's Gate Tutu and Trilogy are two excellent total conversions to an already great game. I would recommend, if you want to take the easier route, go with bg1tutu since i have read that it has better performance and have used the most. I have never used trilogy because i had no need to. But I will say that it has gotten great write-ups. I think it is a bit too long, but that’s just my opinion. Both the conversions make the characters move faster, give kits to each of the classes and enhance a few other things via spells and weapon proficiencies. Besides the conversions that make the 1st game even better, there are a few really well done mods i have used in the past up to the present that i would recommend.
What you want to consider
-BG1-Unfinished Business. This mod is great. A lot of things that should have been in the game when it originally came out were lost. Some of these things are very important, others not so much. Fortunately, this mod restores those perks to the game. I have never experienced any problems to this mod and thus would recommend it to everyone.
-The Lure of the Sirines Call. This is a quest mod that adds a whole somewhat big quest to the western section of the map. The quest can be started at any time so it's viable for early parties although it can be tough.
-Rogue Rebalancing. This is the best mod I have ever downloaded. It gives the game so much more for the thief classes. Even if you don’t make one, it adds a whole pick pockets thing for any of your thief/bard characters. All thieves and bards can dual wield and much more. The jester-actually a good class. Blade-even better. The bounty hunters, assassins and swashbucklers get much better as well. Overall, this mod makes the thief classes much better and it even adds items to the game. Not as many as it does for baldurs gate 2, but hey you cant beat it.
-Songs and Silence-The final one you could use if you want items for bards and thieves as well. There’s armor for bards and fighter/mages that allow you to wear it while casting. I would not recommend using this if you are going to use rogue rebalancing. You can use this for the items and still use rogue rebalancing but both at once I don’t recommend.
What I don’t consider
-NPC Pack. I used this mod and it was supposed to enhance the npcs and make them have more dialogue but the lines aren’t from the creators so it is a little cheesy. I also crashed a few times with it when I got to areas where they were supposed to talk so I wouldn’t recommend it. Other than that, everything else is pretty good. Just whatever you do don’t use any mods that overlap other ones. I crashed from that a few times, heh.
