Hey all,

Just started Throne of Bhaal and I don't want to miss out on Sarevok, but don't know if he should replace Aerie or Valygar. I'm focusing 100% on the RP (especially the character dialogues) and I want to keep the character with most banters/interactions/comments. I have no intentions of romancing Aerie.

So I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there's a noticeable difference between Aerie & Valygars interactions/banters/comments, or if they're roughly the same?

For some reason, even though I'm not romancing Aerie, I feel like she would have more to say, and the developers will probably have focused more on her character in general, as she is indeed a romance option. Though I'm only guessing.

Thanks in advance! :)

If it's only numbers you're interested in, then I can tell you that, in ToB, Aerie has 35 dialog states, and Valygar has 24. But you have to remember that not all of those will trigger, in either case. Overall, I'd say Aerie is likely to have more to say.
Aerie is less interesting on her own - *far* more interesting in a group because she tends to get picked on. In fact, on her own Aerie can be down right irritating. It's when you throw in a rival romance or the characters on the lower end of the alignment spectrum with Aerie that things really get interesting.

I find Valygar to be pretty horrendously dull, actually. He's not a decent character at all from either a stat or RP perspective, IMO, but at least he's not obnoxious.

Of the two, I would suggest Aerie. Depending on who else is with you she should provide much more interesting banter. On her own, however, she's kind of a drag.

I haven't played either of them yet -- looking forward to both on my upcoming playthrough -- but I've heard that Valygar doesn't have deep interactions with any character except Mazzy.
Depends greatly on the theme of your party.

Without regards to statistics, for example, if I wanted to muster a band of Thieves guarded by Rangers... Valygar would fit perfectly with my little group.

However, if I wanted to form a group of magic users... that's where Aerie becomes a useful member of that particular party.

Personally, regardless of what my theme is, I almost always pick up Valygar because I relate to him.
If not romancing Aerie, why choose either? Aerie is annoying and as was said, Valygar is just kind of dull. Korgan and Mazzy are way more interesting if you've not tried them play them together.
unless you don't have romance with Aerie there is no reason to take her.
