Do you think the Twisted Rune will play a role in BG3? Their ambitions in 2 were pretty ambiguous. It would be easy for the developers to plug them in to 3. The Durlag's Tower story suggests that the doppelgangers were actually illithid agents. So we know that they were around the area of Baldur's Gate.

What's the point of speculating?

Yeah, it's a little too early to start guessing what's going to happen. I guess I got a little too excited.
