low rated
Fouinto: I will just react on this sentence : this DLC is noted 2.5/5 stars on GoG.
I won't say more : there are lot of reviews on the net on the EE versions.
ReviloPL: Well I actually do not care if there is a transgender character in the game as pretty much most of the people who gave bad rating there. There were a lot of controversies going on about this DLC, some references to real world but in my opinion the game deserves at least decent 4/5. I won't say more : there are lot of reviews on the net on the EE versions.
Also take note that most of these bad ratings which talks about bugs comes before updates which fixed them.
Engerek01: I just finished Siege of Dragonspear. Do people really say it has a story?
Storywise, it is utterly empty. There is almost nothing in it. I knew the end when I started the game.
It is as linear as this type of games can be. Even Icewind dale games were not that linear. It is so linear that you can not even go back to places you finished.
Length? It is super short. I finished BG1:EE in 120 hours. Finished SOD in 8 hours. Last 2 chapters took less than 30 minutes. And that's because I took my time. That should tell you something.
Voice acting... While it is done right on most cases, there are times when it is super annoying. To make some dragons or ancient beings the "cool" act, they made them read 5 words in 60 seconds... It is never a good sign if I am yawning when a dragon is talking to me.
I had read some people comparing SOD to the Tales of the Sword Coast, the expansion for BG1. I disagree completely. Either Durlag's Tower or the werewolf Island has more content and story and excitement than SOD. With the Ice Island, TotSC easily has 3 times more content than SOD.
I normally hate to talk about price but... if BG1:EE (with TotSC mind you) is 20$ (the classic was 10$) then SOD is worth 2 or 3 $ tops based on content, story and fun.
I had also read someone compared SOD's story to Planescape Torment. Even tho I respect every opinion, that's the stupidest comparison in human history. I can write a book on the subject but let's just say that the quality of writing in SOD is poor at its best. It is probably written by someone who read lots of manga but the implementation of that culture is out of place. Most writings do not even make sense. I often found myself re reading to understand what it meant. Typos, grammar errors are all over the place. As someone who love reading books, especially in english, I found that utterly disturbing and mood breaking.
In conclusion, buy it when it is highly discounted. Play it, enjoy it, and forget it afterwards.
Exactly. It also contradicts BG 1 and 2 all over the place, creates huge plot-holes, and turns Irenicus into a complete moron.Storywise, it is utterly empty. There is almost nothing in it. I knew the end when I started the game.
