It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

since summer sale began with new gog connect goodies (and one of them, especially - Renowned Explorers, should be kinda memorable. Why? Coz, iirc, its 1st title, that appeared in GoG connect second time (I may be wrong, but Im pretty sure, that Im not), which gives hope to people, who missed linking games, featured in previous connects), but I've still didnt linked my steam account, I have 2 questions, related to that. They could be asked before, so - dont punish me for using search badly. Here they are:
1. Which browser settings do you need, in order to link steam account?
Lemme explain - when there was srow connect, I've tried to link my acc already. But failed. And again. And again. Entered right login and password on steam page, but nothing happend. Since I use a bit customised firefox setup (private mode + whitelist for cookies + noscript + enforced https + disconnect strict protection), I've though, that it was due to them. But playing with settings gave me nothing. Yeah, I know, that I can just install clear copy of browser into sandbox or virtual machine, but SCIENCE. So - question above.
Also would be nice to know, do you need to change your steam's settings to public BEFORE that process, or during progress (e.g after entering password). Just in case, that, if something will go wrong, my profile wont fall into google's public cache for nothing.

2. What s cooldown between gog's re-check of steam library?
Lets imagine, that I've made my steam profile public, linked it to GoG, got my drm-free games to library, then switched steam profile back to private. Then steam sale appeared and I've refunded some games, I've bought before for full price (to link to GoG), and ASAP re-bought them with sale's price. Will my GoG account lose them, during short period between refund and rebuy, or this trick will work?
I hope, this question dont break GoG's rules - I just want to understand, how it works, in order to avoid unnecessary punishment for SCIENCE and inform people, who will think about that later.

Actually there are quite a few games that appeared twice in GOG Connect, for a complete list you can check out the following GOGmix: www.gog.com/mix/gog_connect_games

1. Not sure about browser settings, but since as you mentioned that changing your browser settings did not get it to work, I presume that it doesn't really matter that much.

As for Steam profile settings, yes your account should be "Public" for GOG connect to work and find your owned games in Steam library that can be redeemed on GOG. After redeeming the games you can set your Steam account to private again. Then repeat the same process whenever more games are available on GOG connect.

2. I assume that GOG won't be able to re-check the Steam library if you have set your profile to private again, though I can't say for certain what would happen in case you have redeemed a game with GOG connect and then get it refunded on Steam. Perhaps the system can be gamed since GOG connect titles are available for a limited time and GOG would not be able to keep track of already redeemed games even if they are not available on your Steam account. Though the following is mentioned in the GOG Connect FAQ section :

If a game is removed from your Steam account for any reason, such as through manual deletion or a refund – we reserve the right to remove the games from your GOG.com library.

So basically it would be really uncool to refund a game if it is redeemed through GOG connect, and if GOG does have a periodic system to check every game redeemed with GOG connect then it may get removed from your GOG account. Hope that helps you some what with your queries, even if this does not directly address you question regarding it.

I think, I clearly said, that its not about abusing GoG by getting rid of steam copies (which was explained in their faq clearly, aswell as on forums), but about tricking with prices, in order to win in both deals. Just like:
>game become avalaible on GoG connect right before steam sale, but deal expires before sale begin
@
>you grab game in steam for full price and connect it to gog
@
>when steam sale begins, you refund game and buy it again - just for cheaper price
@
>everyone is happy and dances

Technically it should work, coz, since gog require public profile, in order to connect games, then limitation on steam side wont allow them to notice if you will do such trick (until your profile is private, during doing so).
Practically - Im intrested, is it ever legit. From steam side - yes, there ever was option in their refund reasons, called "this game is now avalaible on sale" (but, iirc, they removed it recently. Still - everything is fine, until you got 2 hours of playtime). But what s about GoG? You wont get rid of copy of game - just get difference between normal price and sale price back. So - its not violation of their rules. Or is it?
