as a guy, I think I'd try to start a mostly female business if those were true but sadly it's been debunked

That's the thing. Back when women were being paid less that's what happened. Right now there's perhaps a 5% pay differential between men and women in general. So, they had to move the goalposts to demand that women be paid the same as men, even if what the women are doing is less valuable and safer.

It's disgusting and parasitic.

As a female in gaming, I do get a lot of "pull the other one" when I say I'm a girl. Not so much on here, but other places I frequent. It comes off a little condescending, but then there are others that are like "oooh, a girl" and are extra nice. And then there's times when I'm just ignored like any other gamer. I don't mind, we're not such a rare breed anymore and I like feeling a bit special. ;) It's also cool to be geeky now.

Had to look that one up. It means that they don't believe you, right?

And I can't pass up the opportunity to ask whether it bothers you when other people use the term "females" like in the thread that inspired this one. Seems to me that it'd be like calling someone a biped—technically true, but a little too weirdly clinical for everyday conversation. Then again, I'm but a lowly meat skeleton who knows little of such things!

How did you win? Your experience is that of one person. I've seen supremely competent men and women excel, and I've seen slack-ass men and women gain promotion.

Your perception is that women get screwed over simply because they're women. My experiences tell me that it's nowhere near as cut-and-dried as you want it to be.
