ResidentLeever: Cool! Hopefully this has decent pathfinding, better farm mechanics, higher pop count, more advanced commands and formations, more consistent difficulty, more realistic diplomacy, unique music for each campaign and female civilians. A non-linear campaign would be a big plus as well.

timppu: There actually are female civilians, but they stay inside the houses all the time, just like they should. Remember, this was not modern times but ancient times where women just did the dishes and breeded. Nowadays they also go to work. The game is quite realistic in that.

How did you think you get new civilians in the game if there were no females at all? Did you think babies just *poof!* appear out of nowhere when you click that one button repeatedly? No, they come from the vagina, with blood and guts all over them, yech!
What about AoE2 though? You do have female vills that work but sometimes have a start with only male vills, and you can still make more. Dark secrets in this game man...........

Seriously though, I'd really think not being able to afford female models may be truly what happened here.
I appreciate that they show love for this game... But maybe it is time for an Age of Empires IV, instead of all the remastered versions. Will the game be updated to meet nowadays' standards? Or are we just talking about pretty graphics? Scenario making would benefit a lot if they added triggers to the editor.

How bad is Windows Store's DRM?

Can't say I care, as I own two editions of AOE I&II and those don't require me to use a completely sodding useless digital store.

True, true... modelling business is one business where women make more money. Male models are a bit like, you know, Zoolander. It is just cheaper to use male models, especially if they are expendable like in AoE games.

Plus, it is socially more ok to kill male models in games, than females.

cemacar: If you watch the trailer in the end there is just windows 10 logo. And it's mentions xbox multiplayer play(I'm not sure if they are meaning console or platform one) But I'm sure it will be only available for windows 10 as os.

bela555: On their site it says:
Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 Pro+
Processor: 1.2GhZ CPU
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Hard Drive: 2 GB Space
Direct X 9.0c Capable GPU
DirectX® 9.0
That seems to be a placeholder;the official announcement from Microsoft called it a Windows 10 exclusive.
Well, my version of AOE in the "AOE COllection" DVD works fine on Windows 7 so only a little disappointed.

ResidentLeever: except for being pharaoh (though this part is not represented in a game like aoe).
avatar
GR00T: I think Cleopatra, Nefertiti, Hatshepsut, and a few others would argue that point...
I based that on a quick google search; don't have time to look into this properly but going off of wikipedia it seems like an exception to the rule, like when the pharaoh dies and before the next one rises to power, and some of the ones you mentioned are still debated too? Anyway that was just a minor point in my first post and I think it would be cool if the remaster shines more light on women's roles during those periods.

Heh, yeah I didn't mean for it to turn into a historical debate. Just making a more tongue-in-cheek observation. It definitely wasn't the norm, but there were a handful of female pharaohs.

eiii: Can you play that offline or does it require the Steam client to play?
avatar
Plokite_Wolf: It requires the Steam client to play, but it can be run in Steam's offline mode.
Thanks for the info! In that case I rather stick with my disk versions.

cemacar: They announced it I don't have any source I saw it on live stream.
They remastered the Age of Empires 1 with new models, animations, 4k.,
Avaible for only windows 10/xbox(maybe).

Edit:

Sorry about capital letters. Any mod can change it if possible?
Probably won't run on my computer anyway.
I wonder what they did about the gameplay...the first AoE had that super-annoying unit limit of 50 units...which meant that your armies were ridiculously small (20-25 workers, then add a few catapults for siege warfare, and you're quickly down to about 20-25 real combat units! Got even worse on maps with sea where you needed some transport ships and galleys for combat). Was idiotic even back then. The 2nd one was much better in this regard.

The upatch hd mod increases it, but only for non-campaign games.
