Lexor: Previously, when I was getting any DRM-free game from Humble Bundle there was no key and the game was auto-added to library. The Hacknet page said: "For key redemption, a free Steam or Audio download account is required." and there was no other note that "it requires Steam" for every type of download.
Other than having a linked steam account, i still got a key that had to be redeemed separately. So i don't know.

No, it went straight to my library. I got a key for steam i had to redeem. Then again i already had the steam account linked...

OK, so we can all agree that so there was no key for DRM-free version (it was auto added to HB account) and giveaway rules said that Steam account was needed to redeem a key - that's why I said about false advertising as it didn't work as it was advertised.

If anyone above is interested in follow up then here it is.

I've contacted Humble Bundle support and they replied:
In order to claim free games, you must have a Steam account associated. This is a security measure that we've enacted on the free game promotions.
So I said that I already have Humble Bundle account and asked them what kind of "security measure" requires some 3rd party account? They replied:
I'm sorry for the frustration. A Steam account is required to claim the free game content that we offer. We are unable to offer the titles without the connection.
This time they completely omitted my question about "security" and just simply stated that I need to have Steam account to get their free DRM-free games (lol). I tried to get even more details about the reasons by sending another mail but I got no reply so far.

I think I won't get any more details as instead of their next reply I've just received mail with:
It looks like your support request was resolved recently. (...)
How would you rate the support you received?
F grade would be the most suitable here.

GOG is moving this way too, but at leat you still get an answer from real human if you write back (Kudos to GOG staff btw.)
