Mich-666: Does the sale end in two hours then?

Hoping for repeat of all deals at one place (miss Homeworld Collection twice) or for fresh new batch of discounts.
I missed Oril twice and the celestial elephants once.

yogsloth: Was there even a single game at the advertised 90% off?
Of course there were (are, actually):

yogsloth: This has been the most uninspiring GOG sale ever. It just feels limp and half-assed. I haven't bought a thing.
I think the most-wishlisted sale before the last summer sale is worst.

I agree, it feels like they've put minimum effort into it. Hopefully the only reason to distract us long enough until the Anniversary Sale.

I only got Port Royale so far, which is good - more money saved for better sales. :p

Ah, the same 'ol shit that is always 90% off.

I own them all too, but that's not what you were asking.

If these are shit, what are the games you recommend?

It's not that those games exactly are bad, it's just that they're the list of games that are *always* 90% off whenever GOG says "Up to..."

But since you asked.

I just finished Tyranny, and it's absolutely fantastic. Best RPG I've played in years.

Also working my way through Opus Magnum. Not as good as Infinifactory, but still good.

I could go on...
So I guess the flash deals disappearing was a bug. It’s not even a set of fresh deals
So I come back and what do I see?

The same "deals"?!

I feel scammed!. I'm going to get my hands on a lament configuration, just to punish gog's staff. Why should I be the only to suffer?

I asked this on the other thread, but since that one is kind of dead (I miss the days of 1000+ pages sales threads), I'll ask it here.

Fellow goggers, recommend me some games on the absolute cheapest end of the catalog.

Should I get some ultima games, or maybe the first thief games? I still don't have AoW2, should I change that? And what about "The saboteur"? It does look nice.

Oh, well, I've jumped here for a fight, but to be honest you're probably right.
Nice recommendations, by the way.

And I thought they've finally learned how to make some suspense and how to make the sale more interesting...

The official thread is semi-dead because it suffers from the recent 'news thread bug', i.e. they don't get bumped to the top of the board whenever there's a new reply. So, fewer people see it, and even fewer post in it.

Here's hoping this is just another 'side effect' of all the wonderful things GOG will bring us when they officially celebrate the 10th Anniversary. Yeah, I'm a foolish optimist...

Age of Wonders 1 has insane gameplay value compared to its price (plus it's more simplistic than later entries, which could serve as a gateway to the series without being overwhelmed by the mechanics) .

Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 are great games with insane replay value (DK1 is slightly better if you can stomach it's graphics).

FEAR platinum is another great game, one of the few games that gets the horror aspect right. Also it has great game design in general (bullet time, enemy AI, psychic powers).

Sacrifice is a great pick ,graphics are outdated but its gameplay is great and there's literally no other game like this (only Overlord 1&2 have some slight similarities).

Also since the flash sales recycle themselves, you could wait for a potential resale of Shadowrun: Dragonfall, it's an insane turn-based RPG and by far the best of the modern adaptations.

Honestly, the ultima games are way too outdated IMHO. I tried to get into Ultima 7 once in the past (it's the most newbie-friendly game of the ultima series) and just uninstalled after a week without second-thought. If you have much patience you might get around its shortcomings.

About AoW2, check my point about AoW1 and if it turns out that you like it then wait for the next sale to buy the next installment.

Thief games are pretty good. By far the best stealth mechanics, and if graphics turn you off there are many graphical mods to fix that problem.

The saboteur is worth, for its current price. It's fun but it gets repetitive really fast. Still, it's fun for the first few hours so for this price it's good.

If you like some of the older strategies and RPGs then I would definitely suggest:

AoW2 or AoW Shadow Magic (I like Shadow Magic's scenario editor)
Lands of Lore™ 1+2
Ultima™ 7 The Complete Edition
Thief™ Gold
Thief™ 2: The Metal Age
