Got an itch to buy a 4x space strategy game on GOG and was looking at Galactic Civ 3 and the latest expansion pack (crusader I think) but was curious at others...especially the latest Master of Orion.

Is Galactic Civ 3 currently the best 4X space game? or is there another I should take a look at on GOG.com. Bear in Mind that I do have the original MoO & MoO 2.
My favourite is GalCiv 2, but it's more akin to Civ3, and I hate MoO2. I never played GalCiv3.

Yesterday, I bought Sword of the Stars (-75%), and I'm strongly considering getting AI War (-80%, along with Last Federation). Maybe you should consider those two as well.

Thanks for the heads up on Sword of the Stars. However, I checked out some of the reviews and videos and not sure if I would enjoy this one too much.

Star Ruler 2 is fun but quite different from other space 4x. The scale can also be quite insane (from solar system sized starships to nuking entire galaxies).

Starpoint Gemini Warlords is about as new as you can get on GoG - never played it personally but it looks good.

The MoO remake is good, but still lacking compared to MoO2.
