Victor_Glock: That happens to be the exact controller them I am using for other games
Rogue squadron ... I think it was made during a time when PC Joysticks had a square movement area instead of round movement like consoles and newer PC games.
The joystick should reflact that. Also games from that area don't like analog should triggers, best is to use one which has only digital ones like the XBox Classic generation joysticks.
Back in the days I used a CH F16 combat stick (with square movement) for Rogue Squadron, these days I'd use my good old Logitech Rumblepad 2. The Logitech Dual Action should also be good.
If games don't have problems with analog triggers but the movement seems off (like characters only walking slowly when walking diagonal, never running), then a Easy SMX gamepad could be the solution. They increased the circle a bit outside the rectangle instead of keeping it fully inside the rectangle like most other gamepads do. This way the diagonal extension value for each axis is not limited to 0.7, but more like 0.9, which usually is enough to trigger the "run" funcion for such games.
